Hotter than Michael Adonis Phelps??

I think he's kind of ugly. :lol

I bought a pair of gymnastic rings recently for Crossfit training. I could do pull-ups and dips etc on a bar(s) already but holy freaking crap, they're so much harder on rings. The stabilization element just cranks it up about 10 notches. Just holding yourself in the arms-locked, top-of-the-dip position is brutal - the first time I tried it, my arms shook uncontrollably. Rings are an amazing strength training tool, especially considering they cost me $50 and you can use them damn near anywhere. Unfortunately, you quickly realize that having a low bodyweight is 2nd only to upper body strength when it comes to the rings...

I don't think I'd even be able to hang on them, hah.

Judges cheating for the Chinese gymnasts.  :maf

I think that's awful. Anything that goes against the integrity of the Olympics is terrible. :(

He drops like a 200lb dumbbell on his shoulder, his arm like turns in a completely improbably fashion, then he starts convulsing and a bunch of Chinese slave laborers come out with white shields to block his injured form from view.

Then NBC shows it in slo-mo from like 9 angles.

I haven't really been following at all, but I chuckled when I saw Yahoo had pulled the "Realtime Medal Ticker" off their Canadian front page. Winter Olympics, here we come!

I'm watching the replay of the USA-South Korea baseball game on Universal HD, it's pretty damn exciting, especially since I have no idea who won.

edit: And we lost. Oh well, still an exciting game.

We do well in sports in which most of the rest of the world doesn't compete.

How popular is curling in Australia? The luge in Nigeria? Or the biathlon, well, anywhere?

Anyone ever notice how poorly India does despite having over a billion people. It's still a poor country, but other poor countries with much smaller populations do better. North Korea, for instance, has 1/50th the population and is even poorer, yet has five medals (I realize that totalitarian regimes can focus what limited resources they have into sports training).

Can anyone even name one great Indian athlete (cricket players don't count)?

Look those Aussies are fully capable of building indoor ice rinks for curling and indoor ice mountains for skiing so if they loss it's their own fault.

Most olympians are attractive in person.  It's because they're in such great shape.

Usually the Toronto area is quite a bit warmer during the summer.  This summer has seen record rain.  Definitely not the norm.

Anyhow:

WE HAVE THE 7TH LARGEST CONTINGENT OF ATHLETES?!  AND NO FUCKING MEDALS?!

END YOURSELF, CANADA

Oh well, at least we have the most dominant athlete in one sport, even if it's not in the Olympics:

Yeah, I went to a barbeque at some family member's house on Sunday somewhere in Toronto and it was cold and raining. They had one of those tent things up so that they could still bbq outside. Just about everyone else stayed inside. It didn't feel like summer at all.
