Scryed is like Japanese fighting X-men, right?

I've never seen it, but I know that the director of Geass and Planetes was behind it.

Scryed is superior to Code Geass, even with the pizza hut and mechs.  It pretty much had the best final episode ever.

That arm is pretty badass. While playing DMC4 I kept getting reminded of it. I hated their final forms though, they looked pretty homo.

You're a homo for hating them. You're not manly enough to appreciate them.

This thread is already lame considering there is a Scryed avatar without Cougar, then there is a big picture featuring 3 shitty characters, 2 awesome characters, and no Cougar.

I haven't seen Code Geese.  I have no clue what it is about outside of terrible character designs.  Scryed is awesome and probably has the most stupidly awesome last episode in any anime.

I was actually watching some episodes the other day and now I want to go out and buy G Gundam on DVD.

if by manly combining you mean the heated embrace of polarized hate and a flurry of mutually-shared punches, then YES!

Well, Ryuhou was always very homo.  Both his initial stages involved him standing there while his real doll attacked Kazuma, who was punching people with powerful fist that punches uses bullets.  His best stage was when he was normal and just had diamond on his hand.

Scryed is all bout the DETERMINATION! PRIDE! STRENGTH! DEDICATION! CONVICTION!

Cougar was the character that had it all, he was the ultimate manly man.

Cougar is like, one of the best characters in Anime.  His power is to make things go fast, then it evolves into him going fast.  Plus he could fuck up both Ryohou AND Kazuma.  He also dies like, 4 times, but is too fast for death to catch him.  The ending was another cock tease.

i should note that gurren lagann and scryed have a very similar theme: TESTOSTERONE POWERS THE UNIVERSE

except gurren lagann suggests that testosterone has an exponential effect when combined, and scryed suggests that it is zero sum

People may not like Ryuho, but his rivalry with Kazuma is one of the best in anime.

ryuhou's power is based not on bestial rage but the idolization of his mother, and men would much rather admit their animal side than their codependent one!

The rivalry is hilarious.  It starts out with Kazuma getting fucked up, then wanting to beat up the person stronger than him, then Kazuma escaping, then Ryuhou hates him now.  It didn't need to be drawn out and boring with a back story about how they were homo together and now are broken up or some Naruto shit like that.

i should also add that the scryed manga is rancid wank from the mind of a slobbering fanchild and the pen of fist of the north star's creator, drunk and forlorn

sCRYed is fucking awesome! Like I always said, this is the animu version of Fight Club, but people hardly recognize it for that! Ryuho represents the Edward Norton, the guy who has it made and knows what he wants and where he is in society. Yet he is unsatisfied, and haunted by not being able to have a woman he wants, and haunted by internal turmoil questioning his very existance and purpose in the world. Kazuma is the liberated mindless force of nature that is humanity at our most primal state. He does not care, he does not want to care. He knows how much pleasure he gets from PUNCHING things, and he loves to PUNCH things. If anything gets in his way, he will PUNCH it until it breaks. The woman that Ryuho cannot have seeks to be with this man. She is drawn to his primal energy but yet he does not understand or care to understand what love is. He draws everyone around him into the whirlpool of conflict to attain the ultimate thrill. In the end, see Kazuma for what he really is, Ryuho realizes that all his power and position in the world is pointless and useless and lowers himself to the very same primal nature. They punch everything around them that stands in their way, and then they punch each other, and then they punch each other AGAIN.... and AGAIN. The women watch on horrified but somewhat understanding...... because these are not heroes, they're silent brutes, watchful aggressors...... TRUE MEN!

i'd say it's more that kazuma is chaos and freedom, and the male need to dominate and destroy that which opposes it; whereas ryuhou is order and justice, and the male need to protect what is cherished through cold structure and militaristic obedience. neither can truly prevail, although
spoiler (click to show/hide)
kazuma sorta does at the end -- his fist is briefly raised in pyrrhic triumph -- because the only thing that will stop the mainland's advance is not peace but endless battle. also, neither can really exist without the other, since ryuhou needs a threat to define him, and kazuma needs something to hit
[close]

the show does a surprisingly capable job of sustaining those themes and does the completely UN-ANIME thing of avoiding exposition on the matter entirely, letting ryuhou and kazuma's behaviors define the struggle

what the fuck, japan, don't you know that we can't understand what's going on without two preceding episodes of grunting and talking and powering up and flashbacks

the horrified but generally resigned attitudes of the womenfolk at the end do bring the lulz, too

Yeah, the role of the female characters is pretty great. They aren't exactly looked down on, but they accept that they may never understand 'the reason'. All the other male characters are endlessly inspired by them haha.
