I think it looks awful. I have nothing against Gyllenhaal (him or his downer sister), but he looks ridiculous in this role.

I don't see how that will help much. His face matching up with his hair the probably the most awkward part of the look. He reminds me of this:

The face and hair don't match.

And he also looks too beefy for the role. The Prince was an acrobat. In that picture he looks like he could fight, but not be jumping of pillars and all that.

All jokes aside, after Heath Ledgers performance in TDK ended with nearly half of that forum using him in their avatars (After many had written him off) you think that they would show a bit more restraint in critiquing another choice of roles.

The only thing to go on to believe Goku is Asian is his "Grandfather" who found him was Asian. Race isn't exactly made clear in Dragon Ball at all times. He probably would be Asian, but it isn't anything to get is a fuss about. It isn't like an Asian Goku would make the movie look good.

The only thing I could offer is that he's based on the Chinese Monkey God character. But it isn't even clear that the stories are set on our earth...and Goku is an alien even there. So i'm not really feeling the outrage about him being played by a non-Asian.

It goes without saying that the movie will be an affront to delicate sensibilities and discerning minds everywhere, of course.

They did great on everything but his face. Why did they leave his face alone? No one will ever know. I don't know when the Prince decided to throw on a grizzly beard instead of his fey-ass goatee, but Jake's face looks all wrong. That post above has it right, he looks more like the new Bionic Commando hero than the Prince.

He doesn't look anything at all like the game character. They'll probably try to make this like 24 in the desert with swords and just because it'll be like 24, it'll be shit. Karma will then make the new cel-shaded game really fucking awesome. This picture has made me excited..for the game.

yeah, I personally have a brown complexion but Iranians can look chinese, white, mexican, Indian, and even totally, completely black. It's obvious that the game character looked mexican though.

honestly, I'm just worried that this will suck like most video game movies (most probably with time travel used in a gimmicky way for the story). maybe the story is good and they never actually told Gyllenhaal that it is a viddy game story so he doesn't get scared of it sucking big hard balls.

yeah I heard about that and I'm hoping maybe they did something similar with gyllenhaal. wahlberg was actually so lazy that he had his assistant play through the original two games while he was watching to learn the story.
