LTTP: Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3

Diablo 2 is the greatest hack 'n slash game ever.

It's so fun. It's just so damn simple, but so rewarding. My only issue is how dying is dealt with, but I'll just try and avoid that.

I just wish I had a 4:3 monitor so I could fullscreen it or something. Playing it in a 640x480 window in my 1680x1050 monitor doesn't look very good at all.

What's your problem with the dying system? Just curious.

Same problem I have with WoW's dying system. It's too punishing. Maybe I'm too used to insta-respawns or respawn checkpoints, but being thrown back to the nearest city and having to trek back to your corpse for your gear and gold, even if left in the pit of hell itself, just seems like too much to suffer for dying, especially in a game where, excepting dying, the flow of gameplay is extremely rapid.

I know you can just reset the game and your body appears right next to you when you continue, but that causes even more penalties.

I suck at WC3 so bad. I need to play through the campaign before trying Battle.net again. I got pwned all over the place.

Get Lord of Destruction, it adds a 800x600 mode. Still pretty low-res, but it's a marked improvement.

Jesus christ. Diablo 2 is the greatest game of all time. People who compared it to Titan's Quest need their brain examined. I'm coming around to the end of Act 1, and my god, so good.

You only need one waypoint for Act III if you're rushing with friends online IIRC, which is awesome. I love the whole atmosphere of Act III, too bad it's just really shitty as a whole.

Naw, I'm a little past halfway through Act I. I rolled a Barbarian, and man is it fucking awesome. So much power. I can't wait to see how epic the fight with Diablo or Baal must be.

One thing I really like about Diablo 2 is you can just trot around into caves and dungeons and shit and just explore, the psuedo non-linearity is just too awesome.

Act II will stomp you into the ground, then Act III will make you beg for mercy.

Act IV is the Retribution.
