Hey CookingBore, any ideas for making flaxseed meal any finer and any good recipes for making breads, tortillas, ect primarily with it?
WTF

I usually just take a portion of the flour a recipe calls for and replace it with flaxseed meal. So for instance, if a bread recipe calls for 3 cups of flour, I'll use 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of flaxseed meal. But you could probably increase that more if you wanted.

Edit: As far as making it finer... Not sure how coarse your flaxseed meal is, but a food processor may work. Or a blender if you want it really fine.

why would you put flaxseed in your bread  :yuck

just do the flour a favor and not use it at all

It tastes pretty much the same with or without. Maybe more "whole-grainy" vs. white. It's flaxseed meal, not flaxseeds, so it's basically a different form of flour.

Mups, how much $$$ do you have invested in that smoker? Does it take up alot of space in the backyard?

Hey man, sorry I missed this.

The smoker cost about 169.  It's about 2x2x4ft so it takes up barely any space.  The only real problem is cleaning it.  Grease goes fucking everywhere and it's a pain in the ass.  But the nonstick surfaces make it somewhat easy.

A charcoal smoker can be had for super cheap but if you're new to smoking, I wouldn't start there.  Maintaining a low temp (which is crucial) is a pain in the ass in there.  Hell, it's even a pain in the ass in a gas smoker.  And smoking is a very unforgiving form of cooking.  Mistakes can fuck you hard.  If I did it over again, I'd put a little more money into an electric smoker.  It maintains the temp by itself and besides price there's no real downside compared to a gas smoker.

My next smoker will be a charcoal pit I build myself in my back yard out of stone.  The taste of charcoal smoked food is worth the extra effort.  But the learning curve is way too steep to begin with on charcoal.

I never liked beets either, but I do like borscht. It's not the same taste as a raw or canned beet.

Flax seed is disgusting
Amen.

The oil is worse.  I tried using it as a olive oil replacement.  No comparison at all.  Crunchy granola, health types love it though, for its Omega 3 content.  I guess it's an acquired taste.

Kielbasa :drool

My buddy brought back some kielbasa from a Jewish deli from his childhood hometown in Jersey. We ate it while brewing beer last weekend. It was the greatest tube meat I've ever had the pleasure of putting in my mouth.

There's a place in the outskirts of Austin that makes homemade sausage and it's stuff with anything from jalapenos to cheese or bacon, etc.  That's the best dick shaped meat I've ever had in my mouth.

pressure cookers are awesome. I use mine a ton for making stews, curry, chili, soup, stock etc - you can get the same taste and tenderness of meat in minutes vs hours of slow cooking.

It might take a while to get used to how powerful it is, and how the cooking times of ingredients vary. If you put starchy veg like carrots or potatoes in a pressure cooker along with meat, the veg will be sludge long before the meat cooks, for example. Try just using it to cook meat at first. Fry some onions, garlic etc in the pan, brown some meat, season, add some stock, and put the lid on the cooker. When it's done, add veg and more seasonings. Instant stew.

you're not gonna die :lol

Any modern pressure cooker will have a vent that stops it from getting overheated. Just keep it on a low flame at first, and turn it off when steam starts venting and you'll be fine. I never time it.
