He was talking about Macae.  He's going to travel over there and we were discussing his trip and out of nowhere "Well of course they don't speak American over there."  I wanted to say "You mean English, right?  Because that is the language you and I speak."

You could argue that British, Australian, and American are all separate dialects of the English language, but then that opens up a entirely new set of problems where you'd have to pick apart each of those three down into even more separate dialects, which is a problem of its own because of how much cross-pollination there is something something

So, yeah, pretty stupid to say that.
