Best Episode of Scrubs
« on: August 15, 2008, 10:57:11 PM »
I've been watching Scrubs lately because I picked up seasons 1-6 when they were on sale a while back, but I just watched what I believe is the best episode of Scrubs. Ever. Episode 14 of season 3, "My Screw Up." This episode hit me like a brick wall because it was COMPLETELY different than all the episodes so far before it. Usually the show is a lighthearted comedy with a few goofy janitor jokes here and there, but this episode was different.

Dr. Cox's brother Ben dies in this episode but Dr. Cox keeps seeing him and talking to him until the end. You don't actually realize he's dead until the end of the episode when Dr. Cox, J.D., and the gang are at his funeral. It was sad. :(

My Screw Up and My Lunch are my two favorite episodes of Scrubs, I love it when they do the more emotional stuff.

Yeah, My Screw Up and My Lunch are both great. Sucks how disposable the show has become now, though.

If you want to get technical, since they were still married at the time he was Dr. Cox's brother. They didn't get truly divorced until like episode 4-5 of season 4. I know this because I just watched the episode a few hours ago. :D

I thought that too, and while I like this show I don't watch it much.  I caught this episode without even knowing Brendan's character (apparently he was in another episode.)  It's really touching and well written, and if you don't look for the twist it can blindside you.  Now, it might have been the beer, but I busted out crying at the end of the episode.  It was really powerful and I'll never forget it.

Best thing Brendan Fraser has ever touched, like you I didn't think he had it in him.

In fact, I almost didn't read this topic because I figured a Scrubs fan would have a different favorite episode and I didn't feel like arguing with him when I likely hadn't seen his episode.  I don't see how there could be a better Scrubs episode, it's up there with the most memorable sitcom episode of all-time for me.
