Weekend Vinyl Haul/buy thread
« on: August 16, 2008, 03:17:03 AM »

I wanted to spend the weekend hunting, but I blew my load tonight since I probably won't be going out for the next couple of days, due to my ankle.  Also, record shopping at like 11PM is teh awesome :bow Easy Street Records :bow2

Easy Street!

I used to live less than a mile from the Queen Anne store. I spent so much money there those two years. Now that I'm in Greenlake, I don't get over there nearly as much. Maybe once a month. Last time I was there was in late July for the Connor Oberst in-store performance/signing.

I hit up the Queen Anne one.  I kinda know how to get there easily now.  How is the location in West Seattle?  More or less vinyl :drool ?

I just went to Target and grabbed a fan.  I kinda wanted to Fry's it up, but my ankle was killing me and I wanted to save my strength for record shopping.

Prole mentioned this.  I am assuming their selection isn't so hot, right?

I don't think so. I can count the number times I've been to the California Ave. store on one hand, so I'm not too sure. The Queen Anne store is the flagship store, though.

I'm totally going to find you some Forgotten Rebels vinyl. Old punk rock with amazing tunes like "Fuck me dead" about necrophilia, "Bomb the boats, feed the fish" about immigrants, and "Surfing on heroin" which explains itself. Highly offensive stuff, but supposedly all the tracks are mocking, not encouraging their namesakes. I'll let you know when I find any.

It's vinyl night again!  I thought the Of Montreal single for Id Engager was out this week, but I did not see it.

(actually from earlier this week, but I never posted it)

It came to like 400, including extended warranty.  It's a pretty daunting little machine.  It's like infinitely customizable, and it sounds really great.  Being so compact, of course the interface is a little quirky, but the only real complaint I have is that the keys are small.  I am sure I will adjust to that, too, though.

I want some samba and bossa nova from back in the day on vinyl, but I can't find anything at all.  Similarly, I've had zero luck looking for old funk and r and b.
