The game is in my backlog, and I've been meaning to play it for ages. Maybe I should try getting it to work on my PSP.

Curse: it's tough to decide, but FFVIII is my favorite game. I always shift between FFVIII, Grim Fandango, Suikoden II, Shenmue, and Mega Man X4.

Himuro: Yeah, I'm definitely going to play this after reading what you said about the game on GAF. I need a new RPG to play on my PSP, and this certainly looks like it fits the bill.

FF8's game system is cool in concept but horribly broken in implementation. I'd love to see a remake that fixes the problems but even if they did remake it I doubt they'd actually fix anything.

while the game has some flaws you can easily expolit, it's hardly broken enough to actually fuck up the entire game. it's still totally playable and really fun.

Wow, you got the number of periods in "Squall......I'm......dying......" exactly the same as in the pic.

I don't know why I checked that, but that's some impressive attention to detail.

Unless you're half-distinguished mentally-challenged you can make virtually every fight in the game impossible to lose thanks to the junction system. So yeah, it's broken. Nevermind that I probably spent more time fucking with that overwrought feature than I actually did playing the game.

what kind of dumbfuck even summons anyway? it's like 2 minutes of animation for the same damage a typical spell does. lrn 2 play

I love the story in FF VIII, but I think it has the worst game system of all the FF games. People rag on FF II all the time, but VIII's leveling system is way more broken than II's.

i summoned all the time in the beginning, later on you regular attack becomes powerful and you can attack more rapidly.

I just remember killing all enemies and even a few bosses in one hit past Dollet. Just learn Card Mod and a few other abilities and with some diligence you'll have a bunch of killer spells to junction to Squall's attack stat. Summoning is useless.

You can definitely make every fight unlosable very quickly without touching GFs at all. In my last playthrough I spent half an hour Carding at the start and I was set to kick ass for a full disc without having to touch my junctions much.

It's broken but I still have fun. What really annoys me is that halfway through the game, the game stops carrying over your junctions properly when you have flashbacks. So you've got to fuck around with them over and over again for no reason.
