Fuck Cloverfield, fuck Godzilla, fuck all that shit.

You guys need to see The Host. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468492/

This movie is unlike anything you would ever see from Hollywood. This movie is clever, funny, and thrilling, and has a couple of sequences that will stay with you long after the movie is over.

Must Watch.

Hated it.  The SFX were garbage.

I love the Host, one of my favorite monster movies.

I didn't really think it was anything special.  It was sufficient.  Then again, I'm not much of a monster movie guy.

I was going to say "I've been meaning to watch that movie for a while now..." and then was distracted by the lovely Munn-juggling:

Yeah, it was alright.  Sure it's better than Godzilla or Clovercrap, but so is 90 minutes of my dog running around barking at shit.

It's Korean, what did you expect?  Well, cheeseburgers, I guess, and I'm sure you were let down there.

The Host is neat.  A lot like Oldboy, it's basically completely unpredictable, going from wacky family comedy to monster movie to wacky family monster movie.  This is why I pay attention to whatever the hyped Korean movie of the moment is--it seems like cinema in Korea is to basically take the successful elements of foreign cinema and stick them in a blender.  Actually, that same metaphor works for Korean music and video games, too.

But does that metaphor work for their cheeseburgers?  Let's prioritize here.

In The Host, Weta was given responsibility for constructing exceedingly detailed and realistic miniature models of the Creature

Whenever I see that Munn loop, I'm always drawn more to the parade of expressions that cross her face than what's in the lower half of the frame.  There's a moment of dawning comprehension, then a flash of what looks like disgust, then an overcorrection into a forced playful response.

Oh, yeah, The Host was playful and fairly intelligent, but at the end it veered right off a cliff into that sort of tragedy the Koreans seem to love to include in just about everything.  Not my cup of tea, especially when I can predict it.

It was my first time seeing that Munn loop. Who's fondling her, and how do I get that job?
