Microsoft Sync and the IPOD Nano
« on: August 18, 2008, 08:08:45 PM »
So yeah, i've been messing with the Microsoft SYNC feature in my car using the IPod Nano. For the most part the voice recognition is excellent, and I suspect it will be as excellent for every media player. There are some funny quirks, like sometimes it will pronoune e's as a long a.

I think my biggest gripe is its ability to use playlists and hold a large list for shuffle, but I suspect this has more to do with the IPod than the SYNC system, at least the latter.

I can't get it to go to any other playlist than 'On-the-Go'. No matter what I saw or how slow I say it, the robot lady says Playlist On the Go? Then I say NO, then she says make your selection or whatever and round n round we go. Im going to try it with the 4GB zune I bought tonight and see where that leads.

The other thing, and much more annoying thing, is the Play All *shuffle* list. I get in the car, I press the SYNC button on the wheel, I say USB, it syncs, then I say Play All. (Shuffle is on by default). Now say I stop somewhere and get out, turn the car off - when I get back in and start it up it picks up in the song I was in, but the shuffle is lost and not only is it playing the TRUE next song, it seems to get locked into a cycle with three of the closest songs to the one that it was on when I stopped the car.

So every time i get in the car its USB, Play All, and thats just kinda annoying. I think its an IPod issue because when I unhooked it and fast fowarded through some songs it wasn't shuffling like its supposed to. There's bound to be some compatibility issues I spose.

Other than that its grand. Assuming I finally pay my cell phone bill and get it reactivated ill see how that works. I had trouble initially getting it to bond with the car, but that was without instructions lulllzz.

No one cares about your problems as a young rich white man who can afford a fancy car that didn't cost $300 and belong to a hispanic named Steve.

Get the 80GB Zune, bro.  Best electronic purchase I've made in the last year.

I don't need sync features but I'd like MP3 input in my car.  How much does that cost?
