Agreed absolutely.  For music listening, which is really all that matters to me, I strongly believe my 80gb Zune is better than any IPOD.

I like the Zune store quite a lot as well.  Maybe it's cause I'm a digital/portable music noob.

I've already downloaded close to 70gbs from the store!

80gb has a much nicer screen and a better set of earphones, if you don't already have a good pair.  I believe those earphones are sold for $40 separately.

The only thing I absolutely hate about my zune is the software. I hate that the thing is so damn anal and if a song in an album has ANYTHIGN different it seperates it puts it into another album folder on my zune entirely. You can't just drag and drop the folder you want and put it on your zune. I have gone into winamp and changed my mp3 information so I can put it in the same folder as all the other songs on my zune WAY TOO MANY TIMES.

I would agree with that.  I hate that the Zune software automatically removes any song that I delete from my HD.  It pissed me off to the point that I just bought a portable HD for the Zune specifically

Btw, which model did you get?

I'm sure they're great.  Probably not too portable though?

I think the old one? 30 gig

Either way I love it.

But some other weird stuff has been happening. Some albums have disappeared from my zune entirely. I reupped them so it's fine but still...wtf.

The Zune's interface is a lot nicer than the graphics-intensive one Apple has given to the current line of iPods, definitely.

However, no OSX support for Zune is sort of dumb, seeing as how iTunes and iPods work with Windows no problem (kinda).

After playing around with my friend's Zune last week, I kind of wanted to pick one up instead of an iPod.  It wasn't exactly because it was better, but because I already have my iPod Touch for most video/internet usage, but I wanted something with a big storage capacity for all my music and didn't really want all Apple products.  It is actually more slick than I thought it would be.

I can't really agree with this. The software is way too finicky, and it crashes all the time on my PC. The device itself is pretty good, except that you can't see every song by an artist at once, you have to go album by album, which is completely distinguished mentally-challenged.

Oh the software isn't bulletproof. Things like old CDs will make rips hang, but I havent had a rash yet. I think the improvements would be needed at the Zune Store. There's so much Hip-Hop R&B on the front page you wouldnt know they had anything else.

Agree with most of what's said here, except I use Amazon music store.

It's also cool that you can apply XBL points to your Zune account.

I hear it works both ways; haven't confirmed yet.

I switched from the ITMS to Amazon a couple of months ago. That's as far as I can go.

I love my Zune, but the software is complete shit.

Wait until your first firmware update when certain songs will no longer since and half of your albums have songs mixed in with other albums.

I havent noticed that yet, but I dont have a lot of songs on it. I don't like how it mixes podcasts in with a 'play all' command via SYNC. I also wish it would sort out the spoken word/comedy stuff from music, but I guess ill do that on my own.

Come to think of it IPOD did weird stuff with album art, i'd get all kinds of wacky mix ups goin on there.

It shouldn't... the image is part of the MP3/AAC so there shouldn't be any crosswiring. If that happens, rebuilding your library would likely solve it. But then you'd lose your ratings, #times listened, etc.
