Congrats. Im an OG in the HD world, been livin' large for about 6 years now. I personally prefer plasma to LCD, but the devil is in the details (aka make and model).

Now make sure you get a PS3 or standalone BD player, and enjoy the eyegasm of BD in glorious 1080p via HDMI.

Just got a 32-inch 1080p Sony LCD. I don't actually own anything that outputs in HD though. The Olympics via the built-in digital tuner at 720p looks pretty good at least.

my education is payed for (at least pre-grad stuff), they buy my food, but I'm on my own for everything else usually. i've been looking for a job though, which seems to make them want to buy more more shit: they want my focus solely on school and think work would be a distraction. smh, i'm not mentally distinguished mentally-challenged

Football is great in HD, as are all sports. But of all of them, what blows my mind the most in HD is soccer. World Cup 2006 was incredible.

The first thing I watched in HD was literally the Duke-Tennessee women's college basketball game. I got the HD cable box and was flipping through the channels and was amazed by the crispness of the crowd. I watched a women's basketball game because of the crowd. I actually got the TV the week before the Super Bowl, but I watched saw glimpses of it while playing Halo over at a friend's house.

I had the same experience with the World Cup. Im not a soccer fan - I watched because of the field, lolz. You could see individual blades of grass.

I was wrong.

I'm literally watching Olympic Walking in HD right now. I hate the Olympics (this year at least) and I sure as hell hate walking.

I may have an HDTV, but I am one of those DVDs are fine folks. I think DVDs look great on my set. And the kicker is that when I moved last year, I tossed out my home theater system, so now my only DVD player is a 2003 PS2 (the first model to support progressive scan).

As I mentioned before, I have one of their sets. They are the only company to come out with a 32" Plasma, so I bought it, since I was looking for a 32" set.

The image retention can be a bitch, but other than that, I love this fucking TV. It's better than any LCD at this size, that's for sure. This is the only set that anyone should be looking at from Vizio, and its the only one with any decent reviews.

I've had mine for about a year and I have nothing but good things to say about it.
I went to Circuit City and saw their HDTV wall of tvs. None looked better than what I have now.
I'm going to upgrade from a 37" to a 42" 1080p since they're getting really cheap now.

Honestly, this Plasma is the best thing they've ever done. I'm sure it's not on the level of bigger size plasmas, but it easily destroys all of the LCDs at this level, even the really expensive Samsung I looked at initially.
