Why did it take me this long to watch Blade Runner?
« on: August 21, 2008, 03:18:07 AM »
I'm wide awake and it's three in the morning, and I feel like buying shit. Which version of the film is the best?

Watching the theatrical cut first will make you appreciate the Final Cut that much more.

The final cut is in the Blu-ray player, and just ran the image cleaner to get rid of the image retention from the Force Unleashed demo of great.

See you guys in two hours.

I just finished watching the final cut.

Something I noticed
spoiler (click to show/hide)
All of the dudes who created the Replicants had a crucial flaw, just like they did: The Asian guy was all old and decrepit, Sebastian has that degenerative disease, Tyrell's eyes are all fucked up and he has to wear these giant ass glasses. I'm trying to figure out if that means anything.

Watch Final Cut for the amazing transfer, then the DC for another great version, and skip the other three versions. Thats how I do it, anyways. I dont have the time nor the desire to watch 3 other inferior versions.

Just read the book it's based on and get the REAL story.

Also, instead of watching said inferior cuts, spend your time on Dangerous Days.

The Final Cut and the DC are too similar.  I'd say Final Cut and the theatrical cut so he can understand why the theatrical cut is inferior and take place in the Argument.

Its exhaustive, and at times, exhausting, lolz. Overall though, its great, and worth the price of the set alone.

This is a good point, which I was actually pondering after my post. Yeah, go this route.

They're compensating for their own imperfections. It adds a touch of irony to the attempts to wipe out the replicants, given that they are in many ways superior beings.

Of course, it's also a bit of a sticking point for the nit-pickers: if it's so easy to create perfect artificial eyes, why doesn't Tyrell have them surgically implanted himself?

Yes, this is the best. I laughed out loud at several moments when the narration kicked in when I watched the theatrical cut.

I like how even though it's been 26 year since the movie came out Jerry Perenchio and Bud Yorkin still subtly defend the changes they made to the movie.  :lol

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

The best part is that he recites the voiceover like a child that has just learned to read.

Damn right it is.

Although I wish that it would have come with a chart with the differences in the versions similar to the one that came with the Close Encounters Every Fucking Version Blu-ray

Nope, he's already watched the movie so now he'll never get another chance to read the book.
