In an unexpected twist, Obama selects John McCain.

If Clark didn't start a shit storm over his valid-but-unnecessary comments on McCain's military record he'd probably be the "Oh snaps!" pick out of nowhere. Now...who knows

Seems like Biden's the guy; I really like him although Mandark made a good argument about some of his problems. Considering Obama's camp seems to be having a blast leading the media into empty alleys this might all be a smokescreen.

I could see Biden working as a kind of "Laurel and Hardy" thing. Obama is the straight-laced, but good natured, cute one and Biden is the bumbling fool who always speaks his mind, broaching the topic and them letting Obama clarify in a dignified manner.

Like I said on GAF, Biden takes away Obama's biggest argument against McCain - Washington is broken...it needs change...McCain has been there 26 years...he's part of the problem.

The best choice is Richardson. Heck, he was the best choice as the nominee.

McCain is going to pick either Romney or Pawlenty I believe.

I don't see a double minority ticket being pushed. Richardson is a horrible debater as well, and more importantly he's not an attack dog.

The "change" mantra has been replaced by a need for experience. Change worked in the primaries but voters are more concerned about who they can trust, who has the better track record, and who's energy policy is best among other things. If he chooses a "change" VP like Kaine or Sebelius we'll just be hearing about how in-experienced the ticket is. I'd rather take a bullet on experience than take one on change

Is Bill Richardson really seen as a minority though? To the average voter, I find it difficult to believe. What's the connection anyway? His mother?

He brings both change and experience to the table. And he could satisfy some segment of the Clinton base (maybe).

Biden would make a better cabinet member than a VP.  God help you motherfuckers if you think the worthless Bayh has a shot.

Wesley Clark would have been a good choice but he fucked that up.  Same goes for Edwards.

Sebelius would be ideal but she is too wet behind the ears in terms of international politics.  She would be a great choice otherwise but he is already known as the inexperienced dude and she would only cement those sentiments further.

I could see it be Richardson who would appeal to the Southwest, the chicanos, and the fact that he is butt buddies with the Clintons, so it is like an olive branch to the Clinton Empire.

Didn't Biden already yell out his car window that he's not the one?

Thank you John Edwards for losing your credibility right before VP nomination time.

It's fun to speculate, but at the end of the day I think we all know who's it going to be.

Better to lose his credibility now than lose it after getting picked as VP.  The scandal was going to break either way.

the LA times never confirmed it, but everyone's assuming that was it.

I'm still holding out hope for the Hilldozer, but my bet is that she doesn't want the job anyway.

From Drudge:

FLASH: Fri Aug 22 2008 17:52:03 ET /// KMBC's Micheal Mahoney reports a company in Kansas City, which specializes in political literature, has been printing Obama-Bayh material... MORE... Gill Studios, would not confirm information about the material. They would not deny it either. At least three sources close to the plant's operations reported the Obama-Bayh material was being produced...

Never forget!
Quote
Indiana Sen. Evan Bayh was among the most loyal of surrogates for Hillary Rodham Clinton in his state’s May primary — a companionable former governor who had a knack for making Clinton laugh.

Yet on a chaotic election night in Indianapolis, when Clinton’s staff was panicking about the excruciatingly slow count of votes in Obama-friendly Lake County, Bayh seemed powerless to scare up inside information.

To the amazement of several Clinton insiders, he sat in a holding room, hunched over a laptop, hitting the “refresh” button over and over on a newspaper website’s interactive vote tracker in a state he was supposed to dominate.

“He’s a great guy, but he couldn’t even get the scoop on the results in his own state,”
said a Clinton supporter who witnessed the scene. “He was just waiting around like everybody else. It seemed like he didn’t really have the juice we thought.”

Bayh was a successful governor of a red state and cut taxes, but this really bothers me:
