How many Spectra did you end up getting in PixelJunk Eden?

I love the gameplay in the game but I the constant repetition means that I rarely played it. I got maybe 3-4 Spectra the day it came out when I realized that 'clearing' a stage meant repeating all the shit I'd done already, 5 times. So it got put on the backburner until a few days ago when I'd beaten a few other games and was bored.

I'm at 10 Spectra now, still enjoying it, but damn if it's repetitive. I can't imagine having to redo the later, larger stages 5x just to make progress. Did anyone here actually get deep into this game? I've got 4 gardens open, with the first garden totally cleared.

i have all 10 gardens open and have maybe 40 spectra total

The repetition is pretty lame.  Why not just let you try to get all the spectra you can the first time through?  I can see replaying a level and seeing how many you can manage to get before you run out of time, but this seems like a way to force that progression in case you turn out to be really good at the game and are able to blow through it right away. (I dunno how many I have off the top of my head)

I barely started Garden 2, but I got everything in the first garden..  I like the game and all that, but I don't really feel like actively playing it all at once.  It is more something that I will go back to every once in a while and complete slowly.

The game started out great, but quickly turned into tedium.  I got maybe 20 and quit.

I think something like 20 will wind up being my cap as well. I just don't feel like redoing this shit over and over again.

Exactly. It makes no sense to boot you out of the area and reset all the seeds every time you get a spectra. Just make each one harder to get to and let you keep going until you run out of time. Leave the 'get em all, fast' trophies in place.

This isn't so bad if you give it 3-4 days between sessions, I just got 4 Spectra in Garden 2. I'm gonna try out Garden 5 then see if I have the stamina to redo 2 for the last one.

i think later in the harder levels, you appreciate it more.  it helps you get familiar with the levels, which is a bigger deal later on.

All the PixelJunk games seem pretty garbage.  I don't get their appeal at all.

This game is super fun, they just blew their whole 'this is not a game' thing by forcing a ridiculous amount of repetition. I have 12 spectra out of 50 and I already feel sorta burnt out by it, even though I still want to press on just because the moment to moment gameplay is so fun.

Though I hear they fuck that up too in Gardens 7-10. I can already see the cracks forming in level 5, where you have enemies that destroy your strings. Isn't the whole appeal of this game freely swinging from strings?

the people complaining about 7-10 just can't handle challenge (or hate variety).  not being able to silk pollen prowlers just means you need to get better at reeling yourself in with the shoulder buttons so you hit them with the grimp itself.
