because tauntaun locked it: clone wars wtf

i didn't even know this was coming out. still, further proving lucas is insane and should be physically barred from anything resembling a movie set, we have:

http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2008/08/12/is-ziro-the-hutt-the-first-gay-alien-in-star-wars-history/#more-3594

Quote
“Ziro, Jabba’s uncle, originally spoke in Hutt-ese, like Jabba and then he had a different sluggish voice just like Jabba, and then George one day was watching it and said ‘I want him to sound like Truman Capote.’ He actually said that and we were like ‘Wow!’

shame foc isn't here to defend this!

This is how I know this movie is shit:

I like the prequels on some level, but brandonh83 worships them. Brandon went to watch this on Friday, and he still hasn't even said a word about them to me.

Whenever there is something Star Wars, I'm the first to hear about it through Brandon. The fact that he hasn't even acknowledged the fact that the film existed since he viewed it pretty much says to me that it isn't even good on any enjoyable level.

I'm not stupid in my prequel like. I recognize the flaws in all of the films. Still, I've had no desire to see this Clone Wars film after hearing the reviews.

You know he's just fucking with the fans at this point. To see how far into the wilds of clowned-up oddity he can lead them.

A few months ago i thought this might be better than the prequels, since they got rid of all the story trappings and could just make a decent CG action movie or some shit. And I STILL didn't really wanna see it.

After I saw a couple of reviews that sentiment was obviously cemented. I really can't believe this exists.

All that neck fat constricting the oxygen flow to Lucas's brain finally got the better of him

Apparently it doesn't start like a Star Wars movie...

it has crackly wartime-styled footage and introduces the main component characters "This is Count Dooku, leader of the seperatists", "This is general Kenobi" etc ... and the Star Wars theme is stylised too. Someone said to me its like 70s or something. I asked "like the Factor 5 logo in RSIII?" and he didn't seem to know what I was on about so... er... I dunno.

I still wanna go see it. Its obviously meant for the kids, and the TV show will be meant for kids. People should bare that in mind. Its gonna be like a 2 hour saturday morning cartoon -- but better by default for having lightsabers.

Why they didn't have Genndy Tartakovsky do a feature is beyond me. Why does it seem like everyone but Lucas can do good Star Wars stuff?

It doesn't seem. It's the damn truth.

It should be locked, locked and thrown into a pit of ravenous rapers to be raped for all eternity.  I just can't comprehend how someone can kill something so awesome.  We should make Cameron do a Star Wars movie.  I had hopes for it since the Cartoon Network shorts were awesome but I guess not, idk.  Maybe I'll catch a matinée.

Tartakovsky's version even progressed the storyline and tied directly into Episode III.

Not too mention it treated the Star Wars mythology with more respect than Lucas ever did. The scene where the council made Anakin a Jedi Knight, that's what the Prequel Trilogy should have been all about, not all the bullshit about the Trade Federation and Naboo and the Senate and all that other crap that nobody wanted.

This is how I know this movie is shit:

I like the prequels on some level, but brandonh83 worships them.

proud of it!

Anyway, I liked it for what it was. It's essentially just three episodes of the new TV series on the way, combined to make a feature film. I think it's kinda pointless, this would have been better to see on TV, and the fact that the story obviously develops over the course of the series doesn't make for much development in the film. It has some pretty bad dialogue but some of the voice acting is alright and there are a couple of really nice action setpieces. There's some really stupid shit in it, but I laughed at the Huttling (yes... a Hutt infant... which is hilarious).

It's nothing great but I didn't hate it or anything. Probably like a 6/10 keeping in mind that its three TV episodes slammed together.

and Ziro the Hutt must be seen to be believed. I would hate the character but I was laughing my ass off in disbelief when I saw the movie  :lol :lol

After hearing about Ziro in more detail, I need to see this for humor purposes at least

I haven't even seen it. The moment I heard it was nothing like Tartakovsky's series I decided it probably wasn't worth my time. I actually really liked the animated series as it sorta reminded me of the early Aeon Flux in the way it told short stories with a cool quietness.

I'm also kinda suprised noone is talking about how this film didn't get the number 1 spot for its opening weekend. Has Lucas really ruined the Star Wars' image to the point that even the once large rabid fanbase weren't foaming at the mouths over another SW film?

Speaking of Tartakovsky, what the hell happened to The Power of the Dark Crystal?

Absolutely not.  If they released Episode III Part 2 today, it would definitely be #1.  Star Wars fans, however lacking of discretion they might have, aren't going to pay $20 to see three episodes of a 'cartoon' that rips off the original Clone Wars style.  That might be shocking to some, but it's not an erosion of the fanbase.  A true SW movie would still pull in huge numbers.

This is akin to putting Droids in theaters in the mid-80's.  That wouldn't have done all that great comparatively, either.
