I couldn't tell whether the top keyboard had different sounds assigned to different areas of the board, or if the lower octave just sounded awesome pitched down... he seemed to have some kind of backing track / beat, so maybe he had a rack / computer hooked up somewhere allowing him to do those sounds. Either way, sounded great

And I need to get a new keyboard with a pitch wheel. That shit makes keys wail up and down like guitar, I love it.

hahah i've seen this.  this dude is ridiculous on the keys

radiohead: yea, i think he's got it hooked up to a computer and running VST plugins from them.  some of those sounds aren't standard on that keyboard (which looks like a yamaha motif)

Do you not read the info on your own videos Himumu?
He says "I'm using FL Studio software to make the beat in the background and a Korg Triton Le keyboard on top, Motif XS8 on bottom."
He's also friends with Papa Roach apparently  :-\
Cool vid though.  I might check this dudes stuff out.

I almost bought a Korg Triton LE, very popular keyboards..

You know with regards to MIDI and using a computer to string together sounds? I tried it with my Yamaha Clavinova (electric piano) and the latency was terrible. I think it may have been because it was a cheap MIDI->USB cable. I tried to make something, and I was straining to play ahead of myself, so what I ad-lib'd would be in sync with what was already recorded. Whats the best way to go about avoiding that?

I've played with software like Reason, Cubase and Ableton using manually tapped in MIDI sequences, played with sounds and loops and things like that (haven't configured triggers though)... I've used that Korg DS-10 thing as well (love the Kaoss pad thing)... it'd be great if I could include live keyboard playing or guitar playing with my electronic tinkering.

Reading up on this dude, pretty interesting!  He is awesome :rock
And I guess he's not new news either... it's always kind of weird when you miss something like this and it's already all been over the internet.

sounds like your problem lies in your audio interface.  are you using a basic sound card (ie soundblaster?).  if so, then that's pretty much the problem.  there are a bunch of cheap professional quality sound cards/interfaces available now.  i just bought the E-MU 0404 and i have zero latency.  it's pretty amazing stuff.  so basically, just avoid "stock" sound cards.  even the firewire/usb audio interfaces are latency-free.

I'm not kidding, either. His album has been in regular rotation since I downloaded it (LEGITIMATELY from his website.)

Sunfish Song is my favorite track, and 56k still cracks me up on the regular.

It is kind of gamey.

The aforementioned Sunfish Song always makes me think of the Parasite Eve intro.

Nice one dude. It was on my old computer so it probably was a really ropey soundcard... the USB ports may have only been 1.0 as well, which would obviously be contributary.

I currently use a laptop which has a built in, relatively recent, Realtek chipset, but from looking at that site, I can see how the extra hardware would help a lot. I'm in the UK, so I'll have to figure out what I need to save for some of this stuff.
