LittleBigPlanet players will not be able to download levels created by players in other global territories, Sony confirmed to CVG.

During a presentation of the game at the Leipzig Games Convention today Sony's Pete Smith, who oversees operations at LBP developer Media Molecule, revealed that levels published on PSN by players will only be downloadable by people in the same region. So we'll not be able to download levels created by Japanese and US gamers.

The reason, he explained, is because each territory will have it's own dedicated server to which levels are uploaded.

"We've got regional servers," explained Smith. "But we can move levels around on servers whenever we want. But you won't have access to the Japanese servers," he added.

this seems very possible as long as it lets you copy save files (to different profiles).  assuming it's not based on regional hardware, but regional PSN accounts.

Hi all, as many of you may have heard already in an interview at Leipzig the senior producer for LittleBigPlanet announced that the game is region locked. This is in fact not the case, and all shared levels in the game will be available worldwide. The confusion arose out of regional differences in how moderation will work as there are different legal rules each region have to play by, and at one point this looked like it may require the game to be independent in each region - however this has been worked around and there will only be one region for the game.... a LittleBigRegion.

Apologies for any confusion over this issue, however I'm pretty sure you're happy with the result.

And I can't believe how bad I am at RTS games.  I wish they at least included some mode where you can at least train and try to understand how to play well before jumping in.  I will say that the sub-planes are awesome, and just being able to retreat under the water when getting attacked is so useful...unless they have subs and blow you out of the water.

And it's good that this LBP region mess got resolved.
