Is there any way to tell that a 360 is "safe"?

Just went to the local "used consoles shop", and saw a used 360 on display over there, for just 130 Euros. I asked the clerk, and he told me that it would be a "safe from RROD" one, but well, i wasn't sure he was telling me the truth. So EBers, guide me to the light...

Check if the power supply is rated at 175W, those should be no worse than any other console

I dont think theres any way to tell a 360 is safe, you just buy one and expect the worst, while playing the best.

My new box from MS has been rock solid, unlike other peoples horror stories. I leave my box on tons of hours a day and night, and have zero issues (which is what I said before the first box croaked out of the blue).

Are there any models that are less loud than the others? I had totally forgotten how loud these things were, and it's really setting of my phantom tinnitus.

any machine manufactured after february this year should be guaranteed reliable. most of the horror stories come from folks who bought the pre-jasper revisions (before july 2007) and who got shipped early revisions back to them in repair, which led to the "QQ I HAD 10000 360s DIE ON ME" hysteria. for quiter machines, the full rev that just came out (or will be out in sept) should be the solution. the rrod hasn't been a hardware problem since the middle of last year, although by then the word of mouth damage was well and truly done.
