As some of you know, PURE is an ATV racing game with SSX style jumps and tricks. The demo is available at Gamestop if you put 5$ down as a preorder, or you can wait for it to hit LIVE/PSN sometime when it launches in September.

After playing the demo multiple times, I can safely say this has jumped to my top title for the rest of 2008.

Too long have ATV games been about realism and complexity, they remove all the fun for the sake of the hardcore following the style has. It's nice that a developer had that balls to put on a show for us, and really emphasize the over-the-top moments that the sport could bring.

If you're a fan of SSX or ATV racing, you must play this title, the graphics are gorgeous, the animations are stellar, the racing is incredibly fun, great tricks, stellar course design.

Go get it.

It's actually quite different than Motorstorm, the jumps are bigger in PURE, tracks aren't as wide.

Motorstorm is just a really good arcade racer, PURE is an extreme sports racer...I can't really compare two great games.

No, surprisingly enough, studio called Blackrock. Even more surprising; this game is made by Disney.

I'm pretty sure that was Codemasters, considering that DiRT was the Colin McRae series before he passed away, and GRID is the sequel to DiRT.

Whether or not Codemasters is owned by Disney, I'm not sure.

I'm a huge SSX fan and was hoping this might give a SSX-like experience, but I didn't really feel the vibe from the videos. I'll have to check out the demo when it hits. Fingers crossed.

(DiRT is still the Colin McRae Rally series, he died in September and the game release in June. It's called Colin McRae DiRT outside the US. As PR said, GRID is what the TOCA series became. Codies is in the UK and is not related to Disney or PURE).

A big part of what makes SSX so wicked is, you know, the snow. I'm sure this will be cool, but I'm not getting SSX from this. Also doesn't look nearly as pot-friendly.

It's pretty much impossible for anything to come near SSX, even in the snow. The fireworks, sounds, DJ, voice work, characters, music...

... I miss SSX so much.

Also it sucks SSX On Tour was so bad. SSX3 was so awesome. Everything was awesome.

Speaking of awesome, what ever happened to Sled Storm? The first one was awesome.

SSX On Tour was indeed a horrifying abomination of biblical proportions. But Blur, even though it was a remake, gave a glimmer of hope that EA are interested in going back towards the greatness of SSX/Tricky/SSX3.

Its like, you can do about 2 tricks max before you hit the ground

Yeah this isn't SSX + ATVs. SSX is amazing since not only could you do massive tricks once you powered up your characters, but the tricks would be in rhythm with the beat of the game. Pure seems to have multiple routes to take, but not as many hidden routes as SSX. Most of what I played in the demo seemed relatively open to see. Playing Pure is making me jones for SSX4 (real one on 360/ps3), but the game is fun for what it is. I'll probably rent it now.

Awesome, awesome demo. Reminds me of a better version of Freekstyle much more than SSX. Definitely going to get this...and I think the demo alone is much better than Motorstorm ever was.

eh. atv ssx is an appealing thought, but the highly-automated trick system is boring, and the demo track doesn't really flow. visuals are zomg in the trailers -- surely they can find something more interesting to do with an engine that handles big open environments with such aplomb. i wish they'd put this in qwhore and given me motorstorm 2 :'(

didn't do anything for me. hard turns were awkward. tricks were meh. just seemed like a wannabe motorstorm, sans the rest of the vehicle selection and biker smacking, plus gimmick tricks.

Decent fun, I suppose, but not what I had hoped. This is not SSX on ATVs.

It lacks the massive venues and more complex (yet rewarding) control system of SSX. This feels like an extreme version of ATV Offroad Fury with more simplistic controls.

Still, not a bad game, just not what I had hoped it would be. At the very least, these guys did an excellent job with both versions of the game. They look virtually the same. Framerate, image quality, level of detail, effects etc. are, as far as I can tell, identical between them.

OK, I played one race and I am SOLD!

I was not really expecting anything different to a racer like ATV or something, but I admit I was dead wrong. Obviously it's inspired by part of the SSX formula of boosting/racing/tricking and I get a real buzz out of that formula. Looks great, controls great, and there's tons of tracks and tricks. Can't wait.

I didn't like it. The last generation kinda wore me out on racing games.

Now if they would make a Rally Sport Challenge 3, then we'd be talking.
