Great show, and i'm only two episodes in.

The onyl thing wrong with it is I think i'm missing things because the pirated copy is bad quality, and apparently theres lots of subtleness to the scenes. The good thing is it's the first time I ever said "damn" to flat boobies.

Whats your thoughts on the third best HBO show next to Deadwood and Wire?

Enjoyed it a whole lot. Season 1, while good, felt like a slow crawl compared to season 2, where it seemed like everything was happening at a breakneck pace, though I suspect that had to do with the creators knowing the show was on the chopping block.

Does Season 2 end decently though? Like Deadwood sucks because the ending is bullshit because theres no conclusion, but does Carnivale atleast have a decent ending?

Sort of. There's a lot of unresolved stuff, and a whole new series of questions come into play once it's over. It feels very much like the writers were really hoping to come back to it some day. Still worth watching, in my opinion.

I picked up season 1 and 2 a while back when they were on sale for $19.99 each but haven't gotten around to watching them yet. I'm glad to hear it's a great show.

gah. I'd have bought them in a heartbeat for that; I only ever saw them at full retail, which IIRC was over US$100.

Great show, very suspenseful and inspiring. Clancy Brown is great. Terrifying.

Carnivale and Deadwood sets are like $50 now, but still way too much. I would buy them in a heartbeat also if I found them for $20

Deadwood's season 3 finale just left me pissed.  Pissed that I spent all that time watching the series for absolutely nothing in the end.  I beared with the excruciating escalation of the Shakespearean dialogue in seasons 2 and 3 because I assumed that the show would eventually pay off but, well, I guess we all know how that turned out.  The series should've ended after season 1.

It took me awhile for me to warm up to Carnivale but things really start rolling in season 2 and I was hungry for more after it ended.  The finale reminded me of the last episode of Twin Peaks in a lot of ways in that it gives you some answers but throws you for an unexpected loop in the final scene.  If you know what you're getting into and realize that there won't be any conclusion, Carnivale is definitely worth the trip.  Hell, I'll take an unresolved Carnivale anyday over whatever the hell that was in Deadwood.

I like Carnivale, but it's probably the least favorite HBO series I've watched (Entourage, Six Feet Under, Flight of the Concords, Deadwood, Curb)

Suddenly glad I only watched the first season of Deadwood. I liked it a lot, but I hate-hate-hate bad endings. My love for Evangelion was destroyed by the way they wrapped the series, and was not redeemed by the movies.

Carnivale's creator said that he planned several "books" and only managed to get through the very first bit. I think at the time, with The Sopranos having been given so much leash, most HBO series started off thinking they'd have plenty of time. It would be neat to see it handled as a series of novels, if they're never going to do a series or wrap-up movie.

Hickok died. And the pastor dieing too was lame.

I started the first episode of the second season, but I hate sex scenes so didn't bother watching after he gets it on with that ugly-but-hot bitch.
