BrandNew: you in the dorms with a random roommate? I've been witnessing freshman orientation all week and I'm getting all nostalgic thinking about my first year at uni.

I'm not really digging college life so far. We'll see when classes start, but so far I'm just iffy.
You're doing it wrong. The first few months of university were some of the funnest in my life.
I would blame it on the school, but you're going to a public university with a 30,000 student population -- just like mine. I mean haven't you met like one million hot girls by now? I remember during freshman year there was this sort of "we're all in it together" mentality, so pretty much everyone was friendly and everyone introduced themselves for the sake of introducing themselves.
For the first three months all I did was play soccer, lift weights, party, and play Halo 2 with my roommate. I went to all my classes but I did pretty much no outside reading, so my grades took a hit. Near the end of semester I dropped pretty much all those activities to focus exclusively on studying and I still pulled a 3.6. It's still my worst semester as far as GPA goes.
