I think I really got turned off to anime after I saw how fucking distinguished mentally-challenged the fans are and when I started to see pictures of cartoons fucking when I did DBZ searchs online.

Anyone else that can't stand this shit?

I'm not into the whole cosplay, animecon...etc. stuff either but I do recognize there are good animes out there. Is it so hard to ignore everything else and appreciate the good things in life?

There's a whole spectrum of shit when you say "anime", just like any artform. A small portion of it is fantastic, a larger portion mediocre. . the thing is, with anime, there is a disproportionately large volume of it that is not only bad, but will actually make you stupider if you are unfortunate enough to witness it.

All I will say is "Slayers".

Me. I can't stand anime. ANY anime. Mainly because of the fans giving it such a horrible reputation for me.

Though I watched HAMTARO on cartoon network before.

I dont like a lot of animes i just cant get into them usually but theres a few i like a lot. Chobits, Lost Exile, FLCL are my favorites that i've watched.

I tried Akira once, and was bored almost immediately. I think you need some sort of 14 yr old mindset to enjoy it.

That's not a putdown ... there are plenty of people that remain "young at heart" all through their lives. They just have a mentality to enjoy things that are meant for young people.

You should watch Berserk. If you like Character Centric Animes. It revolves around a 3 characters (Guts, Caska and Griffith) from the start up till their fall. Its pretty awesome.

I just can't stand a lot of the common themes in anime. I mean, how many times can kids save the world and shit? I dunno. But there are some cool shows- Bebop, Shamploo, Trigun to an extent. Of course, I don't worship at the altar of WACKY JAPPY, so I guess this is to be expected.

i went through an anime phase in the middle year of college, although i attribute that to depression-induced insanity. as a result, i have a very hard time watching most anime and stomaching it, although i'm always a sucker for lightweight adventure/comedy if it's largely free of fanservice shit.

Hmm I caught an episode of Scryed on cartoon network and it almost made me kill myself it was so bad. Hopefully thats because of the shitty dub, not because the show sucks.

Anyway I've always been into anime, not like hardcore, but I watch a few shows that interest me. I don't like to tell people I like anime because most anime fans deserve to be baked alive in an oven they are so annoying. About a year ago a friend of mine who I had no idea watched anime, but I knew was in a japanese class told me about Bleach and he said I had to watch it. I did, and there is no looking back now! Its about all I watch lately, tried getting into shit like ergo proxy but it was just too wierd. I just download a newly subbed Bleach episode every couple weeks and the anime loving beast within is tamed. Best anime in years I would venture, good story, good animation, good fights, insane plot twists. Its got all I need.

<3 Also anyone who compares it to DBZ is either a distinguished mentally-challenged fellow or someone who hasen't seen the show. DBZ sucks.

My cousin used to draw it a long time ago, before it was big in the US...I'm talking like early 90s. I always thought it looked AWESOME.

I definitely don't like it, though. Never watched DBZ or anything. The closest I got to anime was when my friend and I stole a few Pokemon cards from our brothers because we thought the creatures on them were cute like little animals or something.

I hate the style of anime. The people are just so fucking weird. The girls never know that they're missing clothing, they're WAY OVER THE TOP GIRLY. The guys are either extreme sissies, or just magically NOTHING phases them.... and all characters are clinically depressed at all times.

I really had to ignore a lot to stick through Gundam Seed. Whenever stupid characters do stupid shit you just have to roll your eyes.....at least the plot was well made.

Hajime no Ippo is good and I liked Gungrave a lot, mainly due to the awesome back story the whole series is made up of. It gets really convoluted near the end but the final episode was heart wrenching.

God damn, read a book. 98% of anime has a horrible fukin plot, SEED is no different. In fact even out of the anime I do like I can't say any of the plots are 'well made'
