Any other games like Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer?

I'm not up on games like these at all, but I've been playing Mystery Dungeon obsessively. Does anyone know of other titles remotely similar to this one?

My Wii got the boot a while ago.

Managed to get a copy of Izuna 2 for $15.00 online. That's pretty good, considering I'm always late to the party on RPG's, and they're usually rare and expensive by the time I start looking for them.

There's also Torneko: The Last Hope and Azure Dreams on PS1 (as well as a Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon 2), plus Nightmare of Druaga on PS2 (which I didn't like nearly as much as Torneko or Shiren). Torneko is the closest to Shiren out of that bunch.

I need to pick up Izuna 2.

I've been looking into picking up a rogue RPG for the DS. Playing Angband and Titan Quest recently has reawakened my loot hunting cravings. Which of the two do you all prefer: Izuna II or Shiren? I guess a better question would be which one involves more strategy in the battles?

neither are loot games -- they're both more survival games in the vein of nethack than loot-em-ups like angband. you get further based on cleverness than on kit.

I always assumed they were loot style games from the way they're described (only with turn base battles instead of hacking and slashing). I'll check out nethack and get a good idea of what I'm getting into.
