GO BLUE

I'm not confident in our QB situation at all; from what I've heard no one has distinguished themselves yet...and we're days away from opening week.

Defense is going to be sound, offense has the weapons but possibly no one to get things started. I still think we can win 7 or 8 games. Next year is going to be awesome

What? Seeing OSU get fucked every year in the title game is an official holiday for us.

This is why I'm excited about Rich Rod. If you watch football or basketball the style of play in the Big Ten is a lot slower than SEC/powerhouse conferences. We slog it out and grind, but that doesn't translate to wins against faster teams with more powerful athletes. But now Michigan has a training regimen that rivals the best in the country - we're stronger and faster than we were last year. Unfortunately we don't have the same talent level that we had last year, but that will obviously change in the future. In a couple years we should be running circles around the Big Ten

Maybe not undefeated, but I'm betting that the Cocktail Party decides the SEC champ (who will be Florida or GA this year, no one in the west is really strong enough to challenge either of them) and also one spot in the National Title Game.

True, but its slim this year compared to years past, but possible.

Yep and keep an eye on Ol Miss, they are better this year than people realize.

This too.

But the way things are looking this year, the SEC East is the cream of the crop in the SEC again.

UGA, UF, both highly ranked and returning alot of good players.
Tenn: should be good as usual
SC: Spurrier will eventually get his way with the AD there and get players that he wants in there. And they were just a few bad breaks the last 2 years from being 10 win seasons back to back.
Kentucky: Alot better than thye used to be.

But yea the west has LSU, Alabama should start getting better again, Auburn will be good, and then Old Miss bears keeping an eye on.

God, last year's SEC was a fucking mess and a half. UK was in the top ten in the nation at one point last season, for christ's sake.

Still, anxious to see how the SEC turns out this year, and now that Kentucky sucks again, to see who we upset this year and make cry (hopefully Tennessee, for fuck's sake)

Well, Kentucky - Tennessee is the most pathetic rivalry game in college football, seeing as we haven't won in more than twenty years.

Edit, yeah, we haven't beaten Florida in a while either.

We upset Florida in the early nineties sometime, I think.

Then your overdue to upset them again. Hopefully the College Football Gods decide to rectify this and also let UGA win the National title this year.

But if it cant be UGA, then at least another SEC team.

I was really hoping the Big 12 would ditch Baylor and get Arkansas to come back (so to speak), but that new SEC TV deal means it will never happen.  Baylor is so terrible.  I'm not sure they are better than North Texas.

It's true though: next year will be better. Today proved we don't have a QB. You can't win games like that. The second half defense was great, and the offense seemed to come alive a bit but damn

shame about Wells. I can't stand OSU but I hope he's ok

The final play of the Michigan game was Carr-esque. As a matter of fact, for all the talk of the spread offense being explosive and dynamic, it was incredibly conservative.

The Louisville QB's complete and utter collapse in the 4th Qtr was good entertainment for the train wreck value. Neither QB was exactly putting on a clinic out there, but wow, that was like three picks and a fumble in the last 8 minutes or so. I like how the announcers were like "Well, you know the most improvement as an individual and a team comes in between the first and second week." I think that's being a little optimistic.

That about wraps it up for Louisville.

The Louisville QB's complete and utter collapse in the 4th Qtr was good entertainment for the train wreck value. Neither QB was exactly putting on a clinic out there, but wow, that was like three picks and a fumble in the last 8 minutes or so. I like how the announcers were like "Well, you know the most improvement as an individual and a team comes in between the first and second week." I think that's being a little optimistic.

lol, if that's the case, Hartline should win the Heisman

What a great week. Penn State won, Michigan lost, and Ohio State's RB is out. If only ND had played and lost would the week been better.

Based largely on feeling, and a little homerism, I thought I would trow out M_C's Pac 101 Pick of the season*.

1. USC, well they look pretty much unstoppable, would take a fluke to beat them this year (counting on you Arizona).

2. ASU, yeah yeah, homerism right? Not exactly. I have seen ASU counted out this year entirely due to the O-line. Well this is a young O-line no one knows how it will play out. I don't know where these predictions are coming from. As for the rest, ASU has a better D than last year, better receivers (if not the best bunch in the Pac), a deeper (though not necessarily better) RB situation, and Rudy Fucking Carpenter!

3. Well, now it gets hard. I'm going to throw out Oregon. Not only are they a pretty trendy pick to do well this year, seemingly no matter what, they generally lost skill players from last season, don't underestimate what a strong core can do (OrSt the last 2 years).

4. UCLA, sure this may be a reaction to the Tennessee game, but I think that UCLA's talent runs fairly deep and with Neuheisel and Chow at the helm I expect good things from the boys in baby blue this year. Shit, if ASU can turn around in one year UCLA sure can.

5. Cal, I just am not convinced the team has it together yet. They had such a monumental collapse last year that I still think the team is affected by it.

6. OrSt, They will probably finish 3 or 4 but I can't in good conscience make that prediction, it might jinx 'em.

7. Stanford, they are on an upswing, but they are starting from quite a low point. look for them to beat a few teams the shouldn't and get a decent conference record.

8. Arizona, look for their signiture big win over a ranked conference foe (ASU fan's are already thinking "Oh God, not again (in reference to keeping us out of yet another rose bowl)). I think they may pull of 2-3 conference wins

9. Washington, just because they are better than their in state rivals...

10. Wazzu, Cougin' it 2008!

*This is conference record, not overall.
