Collectors, show me your shame.
« on: August 28, 2008, 10:43:18 PM »
The "I spend too much money" thread put me in mind of the massively distinguished mentally-challenged amounts of money I've spent through the years on collecting various things.

Right now, I have a small bedroom full of Star Wars toys that I bought after a friend started collecting them and passed the bug onto me. Finally stopped buying them after the three prequels came out and crushed my fond childhood memories. During that whole time, I bought a bunch of random figures from various toylines that caught my eye as well, such as DC Direct, McFarlane Movie Maniacs, a few Gundam (which I've never seen a single episode of), etc.

I also have a decent little collection of classic gaming systems, not to mention about three long boxes full of comics.

I stopped all my collecting a few years ago, and I'm too lazy to even begin cataloging all this stuff so I can sell it off.

How about you guys?

don't have any collections aside from my videogame one.  i still have all of my systems, aside from the few that i murdered with my bare hands, and almost every game i bought from the ps1 era onward (most of my games that are older than that were lost/stole/sold).  i've got around 300 total.

300 is pretty impressive. With the Xbox/Ps2 era, I sold and traded a shitload of my games, so I have a pretty thin group of titles for that gen. I still have a handful of PS1 titles, but the majority of my favorites (X-COM! :'() were swiped as well.

My biggest collection are key chains.  I think I have 3,000+ of them.

And if you remove 4 mics, I would have the same shit as Methodis in my closet.  I almost want to melt them down and make something more useful, like a plastic ball.

I probably have every picture taken of Jake Gyllenhaal ever on an external hard drive. If anyone were to ever search through my stuff, they'd think I was a stalker.

Oh man, that's nothing.  A friend of mine has twice as many GH guitars, two drum sets, and two RB guitars, and god knows how many microphones.  Granted, a good portion of that stuff is stolen, but his living room looks like a day care for the Kiss Army.

I have like a shitload of game and animu figures I've found over the last few years.  They're all packed up in boxes right now though so I can't show anything other than some old pics from months ago or last year.

Tons of games too, but that's not shameful to me, lolz.

This is still my favorite shop name:

Say the name aloud if you missed it.   :P  The "Grep" is pronounced like "grape."   ;)

This place had a small amount of toys in the front, and a HUGE amount of nasty-ass doujinishi/loli porn in the back.  The guy running it looks EXACTLY like Itagaki, shades and all.

They closed shop and moved to the trendiest part of town, full of clothing stores and other stores for the "hip, young crowd" downtown.  Now they are located in what I like to call the "nerd building," a place that really stands out with an anime store, figure model store, GANG and GREP (they separated the name so it's not as lolz now, but GANG doesn't have the porn so you don't feel creeped out going in)  The Itagaki guy is still there, ignoring everyone and just surfing the web all day.  There's also gothic lolita/maid clothing stores on the first floor.  Lots of weirdos abound.

Ask him if he is the real Itagaki.!!!..Maybe that's his new job after quitting Tecmo/TN....

and come to think of it, take a photo of him..!!!

We can judge...
