Its undisciplined in two ways:
1) It was a tonedeaf attack on small town America given Obama's previous "clinging" comments
2) It opened the experience door (notice how it didin't mention she's now a governor)
All they had to do was say something about it being an historic pick for the GOP and congratulate her on the nomination. Instead, they tried to be cute.
Unfair subjects of discussion for Democrats vis Sarah Palin:
1) Her daughter's pregnancy.
2) Her own decision to take on this job after giving birth to a Down's Syndrome baby
3) Firing the local librarian for not banning books
4) The federal earmark money she got as mayor
5) Firing the public safety commissioner for not axing her brother-in-law
6) The federal earmark money she got as governor
7) Firing the Agriculture and Conservation Board for not preserving an unprofitable state-owned dairy farm
8) Her crazy ass preacher who thinks that God smites Jews for not recognizing Christ
9) Anything at all about what she has or hasn't done ever
10) Anything at all about where she stands on any issues.
Fair subjects of discussion for Democrats vis Palin:
1) How totally awesome she is
2) How this is like so historic
3) How her nomination proves that the Democratic party are
the real sexists4) How being near the Bering Straits gives her more foreign policy experience than George Kennan
I like this new rule where one campaign isn't allowed to do anything but compliment the other. It'll make for an exciting, unpredictable new way of practicing electoral politics!
