Shield S7
Beverly Hills 90210

TIME TO CATASS!

EDIT: Removed Sons of Anarchy.  Could have sworn that was supposed to be on after The Shield.

Just how bad is 90210: The Next Generation supposed to be?

Nobody knows!  They didn't screen it for critics, which is promising, because I want something trashy and embarrassing and terrible.

The 90210 pilot was written by our lord Rob Thomas of Veronica Mars fame, so it might be alright. However, Thomas was set to be the show-runner, but had a falling out with the CW and quit, so I wouldnt be surprised if they threw out his no doubt awesome script in favor for something much shittier.

Even before 90210 aired. The Shield wasn't mentioned outside of the OP before I posted.

I ended up skipping out on 90210 for some episodes of Scrubs.

My thoughts:

spoiler (click to show/hide)
- Opening scene with Shane getting his ass kicked was perfect.  Makes a great transition from S6.
- Mostly generic BS with the Armenians.  I preferred Margos's insanity to Diro's formulaic approaches.  Shane having to hack away at someone's legs shows how desperate he is.
- Ronnie looks like he is losing it.  He said he is going to leave but to be honest, I think something will go down here very soon (next 2-3 episodes) that will change that.
- The tits on that black chick  :drool
- Dutch and Billings team up returns again
- Setting the Mexicans and Armenians together will seal the fate of Vic and Shane.  Someone will get wise and realize how those two are playing the two groups against each other.

It was a great start.  One of the best parts of the latter seasons of the show is that the introduction episodes are more action driven than plot driven.  Since its the last season, I expect pretty much nothing but action since there is no real point to drag it out with a story that will just end a few episodes later.

I know.  The Shield for me isn't so much a show as it is an experience.  Having watched every episode from the beginning of the first season to the last episode of the last season.  When Vic

, my friends and I talked about it for the first half of the day.  Everyone had to watch it to keep up.  When that thing with Aceveda happened in Season 3, my local radio talk show actually had Benito Martinez two days later to talk about the episode.

The Shield is probably the last TV show I will actually give a damn about.

I think I liked the Shield premiere, but at the same time it's really suffered from having such a long hiatus.  The last time I saw an episode was probably 18 months ago, and for them to jump right back into the overarching mythology is really jarring.  I'm not entirely sure what the fuck is going on -- particularly with the Armenian situation and the big boxes full of blackmail documents.

I dunno what they hope to accomplish by bringing Billings back either.  I was hoping they were really going to let Dutch spread his wings, but he'll be neutered by a partner's incompetence once again.

I was concerned about this, as well, but luckily I rewatched the entire series in the space of two weeks to get myself pumped :p

I agree with you here.  I was ready to say good riddance to Billings at the end of last season.  He was entertaining for what he was, but he was really a one note character.  I was hoping last season was the end of him.  However, I'm wondering if they don't have something in mind for him since it seems like the interviews on the Shield site seem to imply that everyone's story has an ending/means something.

I kinda hope that Claudette and Dutch start working together more again.  They were always a nice counterbalance to the Strike Team dynamic.

EDIT:  And hooooooly shit is Chiklis intense in this episode.  Man, I love this show.  It's always so tense.  You only get this tense high the first time you see an episode, too.  And man Mara needs to DIE DIE DIE.
