Despite liking Vegeta and DBZ, it was all pretty much DB again without the charm.  Vegeta and Piccolo pretty much have the exact same character progression (I actually think all the moments they share are an in-joke making fun of how they are the same character).

DBZ also suffered from having enemies that are strong because...well, just because.  I mean, some guy on Earth makes androids stronger than Freiza, the strongest warrior in the universe? what the fuck?

This discussion is definitely powering up toward SSJ3 wild homo, but yeah, I always thought that was a pretty wtf moment. I could understand Cell being powerful, since he was made with everyone's DNA, but not the androids. Of course, Toriyama originally never planned to go further in DBZ than Freeza, so I guess he had to come up with some shit in a hurry.

I thought it was funnier that SPACE CYBORG FREEZA could be beaten in a second by Trunks, but not the earth andoids. So I am to believe that all of space couldnt create androids stronger than the ones made on earth? Technically I think only one of the Androids was full blown robot. The two kids were cyborgs and Cell was some kind of..weird bioweapon lol

I also liked that Vegeta's attack when he fight fought Goku was capable of destroying the Earth, but the billions of other stronger attacks later in the show doesn't even phase it, yet they still are strong enough to damage the other super powerful fighters.

DBZ also contains some of the most accurate time travel out there.  The way it works is: coming to the past takes you to a different past, yet going back to the future takes you back to your original future.  There are basically 3 or 4 time lines going and none of them make sense.

Maybe they are going off the idea that the future is actually infinite dimensions branched off of infinite possibilities within any given moment. That of course complicates the idea of going back in time.

I think that no matter where you think that the series got stale, everyone can agree on one thing: the Buu saga had absolutely no redeeming qualities.

No, SSJ3 and fusions do not count as "redeeming qualities."

The best part of the Buu saga was that they introduced all these new (and old characters) that you would think would be the ones to finish Buu off, that included Gotenks, Vegetto, a new powered up Gohan, but in the end everyone turns out to be worthless and Goku saves the day himself (which goes COMPLETELY against why he let Buu win the first time around).

Whatever.  He came out of nowhere and died by just holding off the random mutant guy by shooting him until he eventually wore himself out and collapsed.  Did you see the veins on his head? that is badass effort right there.  It also was cool because this was DBZ basically was "unless you are an alien or android, you're weak as shit".  HUMANs!!

I remember when they introduced Cell, I watched a few episodes (a local tv channel broadcasted one episode per day) , went to Tokyo to visit my girlfriend, stayed for a month, came back, and they were still fighting Cell. Even more tiresome was the fat pink bastard, i think that battle lasted even longer... 

Original DB was nice, though. More storydriven, more interesting characters, less fighting for months, less serious tone.

Despite living in the states, I watched all of DB (DB/DBZ/DBGT/Movies/Special) on bootleg VHS tapes that were poorly subtitled at the resolution of my thumb.  Still, the music alone made it much better than the one in America at the time.  This was also still around the same time that Toonami would constantly replay the same damn episodes over and over and never continued after Goku got to Namek, so I got pissed and ordered them.

I eventually got pissed off to the point where me and some friends ordered some fansubs and read dbz fansites and knew the whole story before they aired in the us. lol

Oh man, I know exactly what you are talking about.  In the movie where there are three new androids, I still remember the scene where Vegeta grabs the guy and says something like "Piss off you asshole!" before going super.  I was so used to shit like "I'LL SEE YOUS IN THE NEXT DIMENSION!"

I was a teenager then and I was in the whole "omg cartoons that cuss? anime is so much better than american cartoons!!!!!" phase so that shit just really won over 13-14 year old himu-chan.
