Hmm... The Canadian Liberal party is calling this a simple power grab.

Discuss? I know we have native Canadians here.

Wish the libs had a better leader.  I can't in good conscience vote for Dion, he's a powderpuff.  Nor do I want Harper with a majority.  And the NDP is as usual a joke.

mojo will vote for the bloc like a good Quebecor.

Yeah, it's pretty much a lose-lose situation. I'll probably vote Liberal, just to get back at Harper for forcing me to go somewhere I don't want to in October.

I just don't vote.

All politicians are the same and they never follow through on their promises. So i don't see the point.

Argh matey, this is why we must tar and feather our politicians!  :punch

Not all politicians are the same, unfortunately voters are all the same which is why good politicians dont get where they need to be.

And I'm not trying to be some rebellious badass or anything, I just really don't see the point.

Unless they choose to put a robot up for election, humans are swayed by power and are all flawed. If I vote for a guy who will rasie taxes to the point of making me poor or someone who will rape the medicare system to the point of making me deathly sick..... hmmmmmmm tough choice......

Not rebellion, REVOLUTION!  Dig it.  :punch

The regional governors now have direct control over their territories. Fear will keep the local systems in line.

Same.  I'm voting NDP because if it's a minority government they could actually have some sway.  Plus I'm from Saskatchewan.

Self-interest would lead me to vote conservative.  So would Dion.

Now, if Ignatieff were leading the grits, I'd probably vote red.

In contrast to Dion, he's a fantastic public speaker. Last week at the U of M law school, he gave a talk about Georgia and international law and I kept wondering how the Liberal party picked Dion.

"But he left Canada for a number of years; he doesn't love the country."  :cancry

And I'm not voting, again.

Because I'm a moderate fiscal conservative (classical liberal, really), I'd never vote for the NDP.

Because I'm a cynic, I'd never vote.

I was going to go vote, but that meant going outside. Fuck that. Anyway, it wouldn't have made a difference: the Conservatives are currently leading this riding by more than 10%.

I voted and lost to the the conservatives.   :'(

Still NDP did better this year and conservatives didn't get majority so all's good.

The Conservative Party, in general, isn't as right wing as the Republican party. The system is also a bit weird: we have a separatist-leftist party, a green-leftist party, a working-class leftist party, a center-left party, and one conservative party.

The Liberal Party received less than 20% of the popular vote in each of the four western provinces; in fact, the NDP performed better in all four of the provinces.

I was actually a bit shocked to see them on the ballot. Don't remember that the last time.

I don't know why anyone would decline to cast his worthless ballot every x number of years for some self-aggrandizing candidate who may share some of his views.

Elections are held to give the people an illusion of participation. Your vote is worthless.
