i was pretty much new in america on 9/11.
i remember the weirdest part being that i faked sick from school that day because i didn't feel like going. goes to show how much i faked sick (almost failed because of poor attendance that year

). so it was just me and my mom at home.
conversation pretty much went like this:
(me sleeping)
mom: lauren, wake up. something crazy is happening!
me: mmhh... i'm sick, mom, please!
mom: but the pakistanis... they crashed a plane into the world trade center! you have to see this. some sort of terrorist attack against the yanks!
me: what's the world trade center? is this really that exciting?
mom: you don't know what the world trade center is?
me: no.
mom: it's these really tall skyscrapers in new york city... two of them... you really don't know it?
me: no mom i said i don't know what it is! but since i'm awake now anyway go on and turn on the tv.
so she turned on the tv and we sat in my room and watched the news coverage for the entire morning. i think at one point i got up to have breakfast. by the end of the day i was feeling pretty bad for the americans but i guess it didn't affect me like a lot of my american friends. though i guess some of that had to do with never having heard of the world trade center before that day.
