Just picked up the game. Don't really see why people are bitching about the faux-Scottish translation, but whatever.

I just beat the blue lion dude on the South America continent.

Way too much grinding required. It didn't bother me because I was playing at work, but if I was at home I'd have been pissed having to spend an hour or so getting my team from level 15 to level 20.

That's why 8 is pretty great, it requires virtually zero grinding

Too slow though, I always get bored when I try to play it again.

DQ4 is without grinding for the most part, every boss is shit easy, then all of a sudden you hit this one guy and you're guaranteed to be 5 levels under what's required. I've been poking around and doing extra battles and I still had to grind for at least an hour to have a chance at him.

I really am missing the grand scale of things that was in the NES version. A trip from a town to a cave was perilous in of itself. It took a long time everything just felt bigger. Perhaps it's just nostalgia but I remember travelling from town to town was itself dangerous. So far in chapter two I can go from the bazaar all the way to the castle without even bothering to save because I know I'm in no immediate danger.

I'm not saying it doesnt... just 8 didn't, for me. Except when you fight Jester the first time, so you can get Heal with that ladyboy, the fencer

If the progression:grinding ration is wack then yeah the game requires too much grinding. DW1 was definitely like that, but 2 so far isn't. I'm making good progress while gaining levels pretty steadily.

Yea. It's cool to reduce the encounter rate but don't ALSO shrink the map. Same goes for dungeons.

you wont hear me complain about the encounter rate. But shrinking the map is very noticable and sticks out like a sore thumb. I really wish they had put the original on the cart as well.

Where is the best place to level up in Chapter 6?

It's lame how this dungeon is full of pushover enemies that give you barely any experience, but you're clearly 5 levels short of the chicken/egg boss feggits.
