Tobey Maquire is rakin in the dough as Spiderman
« on: September 17, 2008, 11:03:21 PM »
Quote
Tobey Maguire is now reportedly set to reprise his role as the title character in Spider-Man 4 and 5. The star is expected to film the back-to-back sequels over a six-month period next year.

And according to The Sunday Times, Maguire's deal also allows him to take early mornings and evenings off so that he can spend time with his toddler daughter [Tobey 1, Heath 0]

The paper, which claims Maguire will earn "a record $50 million" for the sequels, claims that "Sony, which declined to comment, is thought to have been wary of allowing 'family time' because it could set a precedent. Finally its chairman, Amy Pascal, herself a mother, stepped in, saying six months without family time would not be fair on any parent."

The Times adds that it will be known "in the next few days" whether Kirsten Dunst will be back as Mary Jane Watson.

Spidey 3 was a funny movie, fuck haters. That being said, two more Spidey flicks might beat the franchise into the ground. 3 was enough for me

I agree with Rman.  Spider-Man 3 was largely unwatchable.

But they got Raimi and pretty much everybody back on the strength of this new screenplay (and large sums of money!).  There was a time where no amount of money would lure Raimi or Maguire back, so I am interested to see what this screenplay is like.  Plus, I think both feel they need to redeem themselves.

I enjoyed Spider-Man 3 more than I should have. I don't care if 4 & 5 get made or not, but I'll probably rent them sometime down the road.

Spiderman 3 is one of the funniest films I've seen in ages. I give the shitty ending a pass due to some of the brilliant moments of comedy found throughout that bitch

1 was garbage.  2 is overrated but it is the only Spiderman film that is worth anyone's time.  3 was so overly ambitious and failed in every aspect.  If this extension was made before 3's script was written, 3 might have turned out to be good.

"WE WANT VENOM"

well you got him.  happy, you little cunts?

thanks for shitting up a franchise i enjoyed with your semen dribbling orations and fanboy demands.

venom sucks
gambit sucks

deadpool i can get behind though.  largely because of gail simone's agent x, which desperately needs to be collected into an oversized hardcover, but won't because marvel doesn't do that anymore.

Eh, considering how they could have turned out, I enjoyed 1 & 2. I'm pretty glad they're trying a fourth, if only to try and put the embarrassment of 3 behind them.
