you have to wait 10 minutes in line and when you order your overpriced, unhealthy piece of shit meal you have to wait for another 10-15 minutes because 'your burger isn't ready yet and will be brought to you shortly'.

Maybe it's just your country?  It's pretty fast here in the US, except for In&Out because the lines are so damned long.

Because most people who work there are usually paid little money for doing little work and don't give a fuck about you.  I used to go to a Taco Bell where the workers would get high and eat all the left overs at night, then dance around in the parking lot after hours.

Because drive-thru takes priority over in-store, unless drive-thru is empty then you've got shitty workers

I usually only have to wait five minutes on average [maybe even less] and that includes waiting in line and waiting for the meal.

KFC always takes a little longer as the meals are a little more complex

recently Ive had real bad luck at McD's, keep getting served by people who have no clue what theyre doing. it took this bitch two minutes to ring up my big mac combo

Worst thing is when they tell you that they bring you the burger when it's finished.
Usually you end up with having finished eating up the fries and drinking half of your beverage when finally the burger arrives, because you don't want your fries to get cold and your beverage stale.
