I just got so close on Splash Woman, her stage was easy, but I died on the boss and don't feel like going back through the stage again.

I still love the game though.

EDIT: Shit, I forgot I bought some E-tanks, never used them :lol

I think the worst part is that enemies now are shot sponges.  I really don't remember having to constantly bombard an enemy with shots until he dies in past games.

I agree.  I played MM2 recently and this game has much better and longer levels, better difficulty level, good music, not as great as MM2 but decent, and more replayability due to the challenges and dlc.

Wow, you guys suck at this game or something.  It's no harder than the older Megaman games, you make your way through the levels and learn the enemy patterns until you can progress with little problems, all of the old games were like that.  The bosses are also about learning the patterns, you gotta be patient.  I'm sure it'll be the next trend to hate on this game for whatever reason tho.  I'm pretty satisfied with it.

Sure, it's not easy, but back in the NES days games were hard as hell to convince you to keep playing.  You keep the screws you collect when you die anyway, so you can just buy upgrades if you're having a hard time.

I will say that the music isn't anything spectacular, a few good tunes, but the older games had better music.

Heh, my mom came down to watch me play the game, and I asked her to guess when the game came out. She said "1987" (the year MM1 came out), and was shocked when I told her "today". She thought it was really cool though. Took down 5 Robot Masters (Splash Woman, Galaxy Man, Plug Man, Magma Man, and Jewel Man), here are some quick thoughts:

+ Awesome chiptune music. It's catchy and will remind you of the classic MM sound, although it's not quite on MM2 or 3's level. (but what is?)
+ Game itself takes cues from Mega Man 2, 3, and a bit from 5. You'll recognize a number of elements from past games (the respawning cubes that come out of the pipes in Crash Man's stage, jumping on bubbles almost exactly like in Wave Man's MM5 stage), along with all-new elements that feel right at home with the rest of the series.
+ Levels are filled with varied challenges and progressively ramp in difficulty as you make your way through the stage. Love things like the teleport warps in Galaxy Man's stage or the hot air balloon enemies.
+ Achievements are present, I managed to get a few so far. Kind of interesting to play a classic-styled MM with this modern staple.
+ Save/Load so you don't have to jot down passwords.

+/- some stages are purely masochistic, and take lots of practice and precision in your jumps. I don't know how the hell I finished Jewel Man's stage. They seem more out of a challenging MM2 rom hack than a professionally made MM. This can be either good or bad, depending on your tolerance for frustration. You will DEFINITELY be overwhelmed at first, but after practice and learning stage layouts, you'll do fine.
+/- - bosses aren't that much harder than the older MM games, especially not if you're using the correct weapon.

- Miniboss fights are pretty annoying and they're damage sinks. The plant miniboss in Hornet Man's stage in particular is a sonavabitch. Luckily, some of the weapons you gain from the Robot Masters make them a bit more manageable.
- No slide (at least, to my knowledge. Maybe it's a powerup or tucked away in there somewhere).
- Downloadable content that costs money. One of the worst things about the "new gen" sad.gif

It's absolutely worth your money if you like classic Mega Man. This is exactly the kind of game I have been looking for in an age when GTA IV is the best selling game out right now.

BTW:
3 > 2 > 5 > 6 > 4 > 1

So far 9 would either be between 2 and 5, or 5 and 6.

This isn't a joke, but if you want to slide you have to pay $2 to unlock Protoman.  It also comes with the charge shot.

Eh, I'll call it.  It'll be like Bionic Commando: Rearmed.  I remember the first few days people were bitching about how hard it was, how the game wasn't fun, how it sucked, etc.  Now everyone seems to love it.  I can see the same thing happening for MM9 once people learn how to play it well.

It really isn't that difficult of a game, I've played through the levels and there are only a few spots which I would consider very hard, but I can think of these kind of situations in any Megaman game.  The game would suck ass if all the levels were like Galaxy Man.  There are some really clever ways that they use environmental puzzles.  I loved how in Tornado Man, at the first rain part there's that long jump that seems impossible, you try anyway, fall short, and land on the cloud.  That was a really clever way to teach you that you can land on clouds.

And NO that's stupid as FUCK. There's too many jumps that seem like it's impossible to cross, only to find some stupid little gimmick that doesnt even happen any more in the level.

You use the cloud again, but the second time you know exactly how it works so there's no problem crossing it.  If you replay the level, you can get through that section really fast.

It's also clever how Tornado Man's power lets you jump higher when you use it.
