I just got fired.  for not meeting targeted goals, which were nebulously defined.

unbelievable.  what's awesome is they will give me a two week's severance package if i give them all rights to anything i do for the next six months in the fields of voip, telecom or internet up to and including blog posts.

the only thing which upsets me is that i didn't get to leave the company on my terms.  after the great interview on friday in nyc, i'm not really concerned about my immediate future

but be on the look out for my "i'm moving and therefor selling a ton of stuff thread."

So, if you take the severance package, won't that mess up taking the job in NYC? Or are the two unrelated?

no.  i just had a great interview with the people on Friday in NYC, which will most likely lead to a job, but I need to actually get that job.

this came out of now where.

if you all recall i got "sent home to think about what i did" when i publicly questioned the decisions and leadership qualities of our supervisor.  Tacked onto that was a write up for "not performing up to par."  Thursday, I had a talk with the supervisor who expressed general contentment with my progress.  Today, I was fired by the VP of that group (the one who sent me home and had me written up originally) in a move that was really sudden, esp as the under performing was the reason for the termination.

i actually have been working on some stuff in that vein.  digital leather's stuff has been a big influence but i'm afraid it's too similar to let anyone else here, because i'm just trying to learn non-edm structure and the like.

I'm still in the fucking around stage with the microKORG.  It's difficult to get used to the tiny keys.  I want to set up a guitar as an input, but I'd need a second person to do anything effectively.  It would produce unholy noise.

back when i first started DJing i toyed with the idea of running the turntables through effects pedals meant for guitars.  i thought it would be fun and different

unfortunately the cost associated with that was rather prohibitive.

Well, the microKORG has 2 audio ins, so it would be easy there.  Hmmm, maybe I should run my turntable through it just for shits and giggles.

What I LOVE about it is that it runs on batteries, too, so moving it around is easy.

I've seen some turntablists do this, I think Q-bert did some scratch routine through a wah-wah pedal once hehe

I was curious about these.  I read that the loser dude from Muse gets these built into his guitars.  They are pretty cheap, but I never had a chance to play with one.  I have to say that aside from getting a field recording device (and recs?), this was like number 2 on my most wanted music toys list.

Oh wait, Kaoss pads and the Kaosscilator are different things?

Kaosscillator = actual synth
Kaoss Pads = midi controller and shit

Makes me want a Kaosscillator even more.

Yep, it's pretty great. Actually pretty versatile, good to be able to change scales and that the arpeggiator has 50 patterns. Also the sound qual is all good for a device this tiny, here's a small loop thing I did with some tests of random sounds on top:
