I remember seeing this and thinking "wow, Bioware can even make a SONIC game good!"


But I guess Sonic's shittiness was too powerful to overcome.  :'(

It will be on par with the other Sonic titles.

That means people will get their hopes dashed thinking that it will be anything other than a bargain bin worthy title, among the sea of unwanted copies of Madden 2004 and Mace Griffin.

Well, heres a brief rundown, i'm still pretty early

* Touch screen everything - movement, selecting, everything
* Battle Music is nice. Reminds me of Legend of Legaia
* Battles are gay. they're turn-based... but more "round-based" - everyone does their attacks then its Round 2, repeat. it's kind of semi-auto? sort of like Phantasy Star's programmable auto mode, for the Genesis.
* You gain levels, but you dont do stats lke other BioWare games. you can add like 1 or 2 bonus points to a stat, otherwise its natural growth.
* You can choose your responses, but they dont affect "good/evil" stuff
* Enemies are on screen, no random battles
* There are Chaos (little blue things), you can equip them for little effects. you can trade with friends (not via wifi though), i dunno how else to make them grow.
* There's a Codex, tells about Sonic's world, and other random BioWare shit that they introduce
* Story is that Sonic & Co. defeated Robotnik FOR THE LAST TIME, and Robotnick is gone. But theres this weird race called Marauders, that stole the Chaos Emeralds, and kidnapped Knuckles. Sonic comes back, was away for a long time apparently (Tales references this). For some reaso Robotnik's robots are acting weird and attacking, so they think Robotnik is back...
* Loading screen when switching areas
* Cutscene intro movie, etc
* Graphics are nasty, of course, models have that "cel shade" look
* Item descriptions dont show up in battle, so you have to basically remember what item does what
* You move around with the touch screen, and then little icons appear that you have to tap (or press L/R). Switch characters to do different effects (Amy smashes things, Tails flies, Sonic does fast loop de loops, Knuckles climbs, etc)
* You can save anywhere

I didnt mention it but as you can see in the video, your characters and the enemies whiff like no tomorrow. All you do, whiff whiff whiff. It's like HOLY SHIT HIT THEM.

When you see them start running to the left, that happens when the enemies are trying to Flee. It's a stupid mini-game, where you tap the character so they hop over a box and dont slow down. When you catch up to them, you are back in the battle again.

Also, the distinguished mentally-challenged "looney tunes" effect when you kill an enemy. And the kids going "yayyyy" when you beat them. OMG.

Game is abysmal.

Too long, there's no "Auto", you have to tap tap tap tap, and even then you could miss a lot on the weakest enemy, making you do it all over again

Is this the first Portable Bioware game? It's a shame they had to debut on a lesser system and didn't go straight for the PSP.

Been playing the past couple nights. Game is still awful.

I got a Chao though, you can equip it, and you dont have to do stupid minigames for doing special attacks for that character. I gave it to Shadow (oop spoiler) cause one of his moves is pretty good.

Also, they introduce a new shitty friend. Her name is Shade, and she is a female echidna. One of the surprises is that Knuckles is in fact NOT the last echidna, and that this new race of echidnas were meant to be extinct, and turns out the Maurauders are in fact the BAD ECHIDNAS - the Nocturnus Clan.
