the official PCSX2 thread of nothing witty here
« on: September 25, 2008, 10:54:36 AM »
Every once in a while, I update PCSX2 and give it a spin, only to be disappointed.  well, yesterday I decided to overclock my E6750 to 3.05ghz.  On a side note, I can't believe how easy that was.  The tutorials on the internet for overclocking are batshit insane...I know the dangers and that its good to be cautious, but still...

anyway, this was apparently enough of a push to run FFX perfectly (aside from when the game somehow breaks the 60fps limit and the dialogue speeds up) and get everything else I own up to speed.  I ran it on 0.9.5 390 X3, gsdx9 (SSE3.)  Even at 1024x768, it looks miles ahead of what the PS2 can put out and what the upscaling on the PS3 does.

Also working well:
--Godhand- the music is slowed down a lot.  If you ever wished for a Reggae version of the music in the first level, you've got it.
--Yakuza - there's a weird graphical glitch that I can only describe as "strips of vaseline" over the screen, but otherwise, it's fine during fights.
--Dodonpachi Daioujou, Mushihime, and Ibara

I'm gonna try out more games later.   anyone else using this emu?   post up your experiences...the compatibility list is pretty out of date, so maybe we can get a list of good games that run well here (I'll update the OP.)

Would it be possible to use this on my MacBook (not Pro) in Boot Camp if I only want to play 2D games?

Probably not.  The integrated graphics card can't handle it and the processor is a little slow.

Still needs lots of work, but there are a bunch of very playable games...enough to prevent me from getting some god awful and expensive converter to hook up my PS2 to my monitor (no TV here.)

I have an 8800gts 512mb, 2gb ram, 3.05ghz core 2 duo, XP, and running it at 1024x768.

and theres an option to limit the games to 60fps

I did did that, but it still sneaks up to 63-65 a lot.  I was thinking it might have something to do with setting the monitor frequency to 75hz in the gsdx9 settings, but I haven't had a chance to play at all today.
