Hey, Trace Memory 2, cool.

and excuse me for not sounding disappointed, but Nintendo has set the bar so frikin low for their announcements that I can't help but be pleasantly surprised when they debut a wad of new IP's, a Treasure Shooter, and a console adventure game. These are all good things. Hell, Punch Out might even turn out to be okay.

and Joystiq is reporting that Nintendo will allow direct Wii loading and storage off of 2 GB flash cards, starting with a Spring 2009

and we've got media of the new Wii and DS games. All the four seconds Klonoa is on screen are pretty awesome, the rest is kinda meh.

The S&P2 news is cool -- per drohne's recommendation on gaf, S&P was my only VC purchase till I decided I wanted to play co-op Contra III (my 15" laptop screen isn't really ideal for multiplayer). As with all Treasure games I've played -- which isn't many -- the boss battles are the highlight. The diversity, in particular, is impressive -- the close-range swordfight with that effete fellow is entertaining (although the GC's spongy shoulder triggers don't really lend themselves to consecutive presses) and the objective of the final battle is delightfully confusing for the first couple of minutes.

Basically, from the GUI, it's plainly EDF in a Norse fantasy setting, which I have absolutely no problem with. Hell, even the engine looks the same as EDF2's. Huge hordes of enemies and giant monsters and destructible EVERYTHING confirmed. Just give me an option to play without waggle and save my wrists from all the sword slashing.

Punchout looks pretty bad.

Sin and Punishment 2 looks good and makes sense.

That Sandlot game looks awesome in motion, I wondered what that was after seeing the montage video..

Punchout doesn't look very far along to me. And it looked like canned animation instead of motion controlled punches... I'm not sure. Could be a good thing, could be a bad thing.

Sin & Punishment 2 looks amazing. The first one is still good, but the visuals are hideous. It was a great idea to bring a new one out.

Trace Memory is a good fit for Wii... I'm glad to see that's been made into a franchise.

Why is everyone on GAF assuming that both cameras in the new DS are 0.3MP? My LG phone has two cameras, the inner one on the face of the phone is completely naff (0.3MP actually) but the one on the back is pretty good quality. They definitely look like different lenses which would each have different sensors... I think people have jumped the gun on that one.

DSi is pretty distinguished mentally-challenged though. What the hell is the point of a 640x480 camera? My $100 Samsung phone has a 3 megapixel camera in it.

Give me a fucking break, himumu. I've never cared for S&P on the N64 or VC or anything anyway. And I don't like games I do care about being released in shitty SD when I have an HD machine. It might not make a difference to luddites like you who are still stuck in the fucking 20th century, but once you've enjoyed stuff on a 32" in 720p, it's difficult to play stuff in 480p. Understand? If Wii HD comes out, I'll bite and all will be forgiven, but fuck that 480p noise.

Depends on the brightness I guess, but going by comparison the battery took a HUGE hit:

• Battery Life
Nintendo DSi: The lowest brightness (9-14 hrs), low brightness (8-12 hours), medium brightness (6-9 hours), high brightness (4-6 hours), highest brightness(3-4 hours)

It looked fine on the DS, it would probably look better now that devs have a better grasping of the system. I love Trace Memory and I've always wanted a sequel, but now it's on a system I don't own (for no good reason) and I won't be able to play it. CING should just make another adventure series for the Wii, give me back my Trace Memory.

This Sandlot game looks very fucking nice!

To be fair this is the first console generation where Nintendo has eschewed contemporary graphics tech. Gamecube had a decent graphix processor for its time. It was handicapped by the GC disks, though, resulting in low quality 3rd party ports. And the SNES was pretty awesome at its time, too. N64 was an abomination from a hardware point of view.

It's very hard to go back to 480p and analog stereo I must say. 720p and 5.1 surround have spoiled me.
