It's the late 1960s, and in the new technology of cryonics, a California TV repairman named Bob sees an opportunity to help people cheat death. But freezing dead people so scientists can reanimate them in the future is a lot harder than it sounds.

Within a few hours, I will have the complete archive of TAL episodes, minus ~10.

Like a full third of TALs have a part that's a total palpable bummer. It's kinda what makes it such a great show.

Is the radio show different from the podcast? I sometimes get the impression they just rehash things for the podcast.

They are identical. Sometimes the podcasts have Ira asking for donations at the beginning, though.

Also, they do frequently do repeats. You can go to their website and look at the radio schedule. The ones with the lower numbers are repeats.

Repeats seem more frequent since they started the TV series.

Its a good series. I hate Podcasts generally but this is probably one of the few Podcasts that are actually worth listening to.

Yeah, I was shocked when he was talking about watching The OC with his wife... I figured he was gay for some reason.

Are you buying TAL from iTunes, or did you find a particularly good (and complete) torrent? I'd love an archive that's properly ID3-tagged.

I poked around and I couldn't find them. Going through comments on other sites, it appears they've changed their scheme a few times.

I found 3 torrents, around 12 gigs total, on What.Cd. Episodes 1-362. I might upload some to one of my servers and put them behind a pwd gate or something and give the passwords to select people.

You'll have to do more than "poke around" their website. Their streaming player actually streams the old shows in an MP3 format, but the location of those files is obscured by their proprietary flash MP3 player. You can pull up the source code for the window that the flash player opens in, but that doesn't help either. I used to be able to download their files when they used RealAudio, because you could use 3rd party players that didn't obscure the source of the stream.....I suspect that's why they've switched to a custom player

I suspect you could find the MP3 file by sniffing your network connection and actually looking at where the data is coming from, but doing that for 365+ episodes is impractical at best.

I mostly just want a set of properly tagged files, that include the whole episode description in the ID3. I'm not even sure the torrents would have that.

Mine don't include full episode descriptions, but they do have all the episode titles, so you can look up the descriptions on the website if you wanted. I don't really have the patience to update 362 files with descriptions.

EDIT: Also, I could have come up with a solution to capture the eps as they streamed, but that would have been like, months slower than just nabbing a torrent.

yeah, Genghis you're definitely the first person I've known, on the internet and in real life, to say they don't like TAL.

Anyway, just listened to "Something for Nothing" a few days ago. The monologue about the hands on the car contest is amazing! That guy talking psyched the shit out of me. Unfortunately, the DVD "Hands on a Hard Body" is long OOP and sells for $80. Found a torrent and I'm gonna watch it soon. I also liked the last segment about the dumpster diving dad.

Loved "Giant Pool of Money" as well, probably the most genuinely informative piece of journalism I've heard/read in my entire life. have yet to listen to the follow up.
