Ebay has become such shit. 100 Ebay store ads to every one genuine auction (not an actual statistic, but it feels that way), an image that is further pushed by the fact that sellers can't leave negative feedback.

As I said in the "the dow is falling" thread, 3 people got laid off at my workplace today, too. We're down to 14 people at the moment.

Well, what did you think would happen. Amazon is quickly becoming the favorite for selling and with more websites like CAG popping up, soon  Ebay will be a thing of myth and legend. It also doesn't help that most auctions are fake as shit.

Huh?

Huh?

Ebay is where they sell mortgage-backed securities and where Alaskan governors list luxury jets.

Some of those things have improved. The biggest issue, and this has become way more common as of late now that pawn shops have joined in, is the shill bidding. Pawn shops are generally operated by genuine scumbags so I tend to steer clear of their auctions, but their saving grace is that they suck at labeling items so you can find pretty remarkable deals in their auctions. But the shill bidding is less than fun.

A lot of things I've searched for have gone for way more than what you could go out and buy it for. You used to be able to get a deal but not anymore. Plus sellers overcharge for shipping. I mean honestly does it really cost you 8.99 to ship a CD? That damn box better be packed with 24K gold plated packing peanuts.

Thank god Amazon doesn't allow that.

I usually try and do business primarily with people who offer several shipping options, and who have their rates linked directly to the current shipping rates of service provider. But yeah, that's another issue; $25 shipping for a red dot sight, from NY to MI? Yeah.

I'd say that Paypal integration is a good thing, but that's pretty dodgy. Not only is there an additional Paypal fee involved, but the dispute system is so inferior to credit card disputes that it's almost not worth bothering with.

It seems pretty obvious that they have little interest in offering an actual auction site these days.
