McCain has repeatedly said:

"I'll do it, my friends.  And I know how to do it."

... HOW WOULD YOU DO IT?

by reaching across the aisle, duh

I think a lot of people forget that the point of these debates ISNT TO SEE WHO DEBATES BETTER. McCain offers no specifics, which makes the debate utterly useless when it comes to getting to know his position-- aside from being a fear monger.

I think Obama pretty handily won that.  He had a few misfires, but so did McCain, and I think Obama had more strong moments.

Also, McCain saying "my friends" every two seconds makes him seem all fake and slimy and insincere.

CBC rocks.   The first thing he says is that the debate was lackluster on the real issues.  That McCain looked like he was hyperventilating at points.  And that Obama won.

listened to this on the commute home. it was a blowout -- obama was steady and had a command of his rhetoric, and mccain just sounded shrill and reactionary. obama's only misstep was his sarcastic "mccain says i'm green behind the ears and he's all somber" "THANK YOU SENATOR" -- you know we're gonna get that quote out of context from distinguished mentally-challenged republican attack ads for the next three weeks

mccain on pakistan and energy was humiliating to listen to. how did this guy ever get elected as a senator

Gonna definitely give the nod to Obama... especially with regards to the economy and healthcare, he presented his positions in a clear and articulate manner, while McCain just spouted out FUD that was handily refuted by Obama. These issues are the main ones important to the middle class and the undecideds. Got a bit bored and drifted in and out during the foreign policy/Middle East portion of the debate.

McCain needed to knock this one out of the park, after a weak showing in the first debate, and a Biden victory in the VP debate... which he did not do. This debate won't hurt McCain but it will slightly reinforce Obama's standing in the polls.

Can't wait till next week, I live about 40 minutes from Hofstra, too bad tickets for the debate seemed to be student-only.
