R2 was okay - but i thought you weren't a scripted fps fan? R2 is really REALLY tightly scripted at least on the demo, with lots of corridors with -no- options which became incredibly infuriating, and i ended up feeling like a prodded cattle being poked down a set path (much worse than COD4).

still, i liked the setting and the atmosphere and the colour, so heh...

Is there even a realistic option for those who prefer open ended, do it your own way shooters? Speaking of COD4 though, I'm sort of hoping that R2 MP can become an alternative to that, if even for just a while. If the SP is as scripted as COD4, then that will be a damned shame. On paper, Killzone 2 MP sounds like a better match for COD4, but that's a fucking Guerrilla game.

Which I've been doing for some time. But I like single player content too, I don't always want to play competitively. Though clearly, this isn't the age of well thought out and designed FPS campaigns.

Isn't R2 supposed to have an eight-player co-op mode where you fight hoards of enemies on randomly-generated maps?  I am all over that.

First time I heard about it, they were talking about it as basically a separate campaign, complete with storyline and all sorts of goodies. But the footage they have shown has seemed more GRAW co-op than anything. Not that 8 player online, objective based co-op would be a bad thing, but it seems quite a bit different from what it was originally said to be.

og xbox IS better than 360

get back in your box Himu, you haven't a fucking clue what you are talking about.

I like 360 but next gen hasn't grabbed me yet and the one next gen game i was highly anticipating turned out disappointing.

I think next gen in general sucks.

I liked panzer dragoon orta, jet set radio future, ninja gaiden black, otogi, phantom dust and other games a lot more than what's on 360 aside from Dead Rising and Ninja Gaiden 2. Most of my favorite games on 360 aren't even exclusive!

OK, so in this thread we have people:

-Saying the PS2 was absolute shit
-Saying RPGs all suck rotten sewage
-Saying the SNES has aged horribly
-Saying Sin and Punishment is shit
-Saying Punch Out is only fun for 2 minutes
-Saying nothing good comes from Japan anymore

If this is a typical video game fan's consensus, I weep for the future, and I don't even want to be referred to as a "gamer".  :-\

Halo 3 Recon's trailer looked sick as hell.  I'm really looking forward to this game now.

Somehow I don't think calling it Halo 3 Recon was a good idea, Halo Recon would have made more sense.  I get the feeling that it's a full experience of a game, not just some short expansion.  I'm expecting upgraded graphics and new effects, and enough content to justify a $60 price tag.   I know that Halo 3 was a big game, but just having the word Halo in the title is recognition enough.

Anyway I'll be up at TGS this weekend to give some impressions.

Didn't Wollan used to say it was going to be like an MMO? :lol

GoW3 and (hopefully) Twisted Metal HD probably won't be out for a while.  It isn't like with Microsoft where you know about games they have but haven't shown since those games are almost all Halo games (except for whatever that Cry RPG is).  Sony has that new Team Ico game, the new Jaffe game, GoW3, and others that they aren't showing.  It is a lame time to do the Microsoft thing of showing it the year the game is out.

I think that was Killzone 2, but I believe he got that from someone else. I'm thinking that person probably got wind of M.A.G., but got the wires crossed.

GOW3 and TM wouldn't be at TGS even if they were ready to show.

But where the fuck is Trico? Every goddamn year we hear that THIS'LL be the year, and every year... nothing.

No, it was definitely R2. I don't know if he was talking about the multiplayer or the co op.
