the Mac Pro is pretty much the standard laptop students get when they go to Design school.  that's what I bought mine for.

this is going to piss off a lot of people.

Although since I dropped out of DAAP I kind of wish I had a glossy screen for ninjavideo n' shit.  The new design is really growing on me too all of the sudden.

Mac OS has a pretty low bar set for it. Only has to be compatible with Apple configurations, only runs a few things, yeah, thats awesome.

If Macs had all the games, I'd trash my windows PC in a second.  I'm absolutely in love with this thing. No heat, everything loads up almost instantly, extremely intuitive, mouse gestures, etc. etc.  Also, the thing is more sexy in person.

Boot Camp solves this problem.  It was the main reason why I went back to OSX...Windows is there if you need it.

You probably don't need to.  Like the only reason to care about firewire these days is to link Macs together, and that won't be a concern to all you dirty poors that only have one of them.  Dead standard is dead.

I would trade the current macbook's mouse gestures for firewire.  I've never had anyone put a gun to my head and say "Transfer 20gb of info in under 5 hours or I shoot!" 

Would be annoying if I was a video artist or musician or someone else who transfers huge files between computers.  Otoh, hey, the last gen of macbooks isn't exactly outdated and they're cheaper now.  This was a mostly lateral refresh.
