Quote
"The AE3000 is one of those new benchmark-setting achievements that will cause the industry to rethink pricing on 1080p projectors...For the 1080p models we are reviewing this fall, we have been withholding our 5-star ratings until we can evaluate them in side by side comparison. However, from those we have seen in the lab, plus the viewing of demonstrations of all the other models, we can safely report that the AE3000 will earn 5 stars in Features, Ease of Use, and Value, and that it is highly likely to earn 5 stars in Performance as well. It is the strongest 1080p contender we've yet seen for our Editor's Choice Award...We offer our congratulations to the product marketing and design engineers at Panasonic for creating a truly remarkable home theater projector that takes the state of the art to the next level."

ANSI lumens: 1600

Contrast (full on/off): 60,000:1

Light Engine: 1920x1080, native 16:9, 0.74" LCD with a 165W UHM lamp.

Video Compatibility: 1080p/24/50/60, 1080i, 720p, 576p, 576i, 480p, 480i. NTSC/PAL/SECAM.

Connection Panel: Three HDMI 1.3 ports, one 15-pin VGA input, two sets of 3-RCA YPbPr component video, one composite video, one S-video, one 9-pin D-sub serial (RS-232c).

It's got the lumens, it's got the contrast, it's got the real-world performance. It has 120 Hz Frame Creation interpolation AS WELL AS minimal-processing Frame Response mode for gaming. Anamorphic Lens Memory for no-swap aspect ratio conversion, split-screen calibration, smooth-screen pixel-eliminating technology, whisper-quiet performance. When asked to come up with a negative, Projector Central suggested, "it could come in white?"

Jesus is back, time to write a fourth book of the Bible? Seems so.

Street will probably be around $2800; add $400 in rebate if you can wait til Spring (I can't).

And since when have you been a dirty poor? Don't you know the teachings of Supply-Side Jesus? :wag

Our Sony projector in our main conference room only goes up to 1080i. We access it through the network with its small client. Works awesome even over wireless.

My wallet just ran for cover.

SEXY stuff.

the only reason I'm not balking at the price is because I've been saving since this time last year for a projector upgrade...I knew the third-gen models were gonna hit this fall and hit hard...I am not disappointed.

I want it very badly, but i literally haven't turned on my projector (AE700) since my daughter was born so it would perhaps not be the most fruitful investment. Also, at that price, i'd be more tempted to get another big-ass 1080p Bravia. TVs really are much more convenient.

I will happily replace my Sanyo Z4 with this once I move back to America (and if I can create a zero-light gaming room like I currently have in my Japanese apartment)

Why's that?  Because of having to replace the bulbs?

'cause it's only really worth turning on the projector if you're going to use it for a while. The need to black out the room is annoying, and the heat makes it impractical in summer (which in Japan is now from April-October apparently...). Especially since you have to close the door for blackout. The heat & noise created by a 360, a projector and an air conditioner in a small room is quite something.

Don't get me wrong, projectors are still awesome. But there is a hell of a lot to be said for getting a tv instead.

I'm a projector fan, in general terms. But I also like TVs! no reason why a crazy bachelor shouldn't have both!
