SCEA releases online-only SOCOM on 10/15; forgets about servers
« on: October 16, 2008, 10:12:20 AM »
So SCEA released SOCOM in stores yesterday, and it's ONLINE ONLY (like Warhawk) but they forgot to put the servers up for people to play their online only game. Right now, the thing is a $40 coaster ($60 if you bought the version with the headset), and people are pretty pissed.

SCEA swears the servers will be up today (10/16), but who knows.

:lol :lol :lol

Online is free, though.

Looks like they're selling useless discs for $60 to pay for it!

Didn't EA just sell Warhammer without the servers being up? Is this really a huge deal?

For the record, is ALL of PSN down for maintenance? That was the case yesterday.

Sony's losing it. Next week, they'll run ads attaching Microsoft to Bill Ayers.

The PS3 could sell 5 Million copies of SOCOM, even without servers.

I didnt have any issues with servers during the beta, the preview, nor the launch

When I eventually start playing I hope the servers are up.  It was only $10 and from the beta seems to be better than Wii Play, so good deal.  The headset is actually quite nice and I hated 100% of bluetooth headsets I tried before this one.

Comical. I know this game is fanservice, but I'm not sure if it's a necessary game right now. I guess they are just buying Zipper some time for MAG.

This is... not far from the truth.

Socom players are crazy.

Oh man, can you imagine the shitstorm that would follow if something like this happened when HOME launched (only on the internet, as ordinary peeps could give a shit about it).

Not 'playing' home > 'playing' home.  I would think people would appreciate the time they spend away from that filth.

btw, the Resistance 2 beta is apparently later today.  The game is out in just over half a month.  Sony needs to get it's shit together.
