yeah I dont really play in clans - just a play on the fact that noone cares about this game - but im installing it now and about to play for anyone else who wants to talk about it.

I have no idea what to expect...

I dont even really see any reviews.

The PS3 headset is nice tho

surprise game installs this gen kill me...

they need to make the dashboard app search for all game updates like once a week and download them in the background.

I hate trying to load up something like Blast Factor after a few months only to be stuck in a 5 minute download...

yeah but how big are they - I saw much 130k-60 MB shit back when I played X360.

The thing im downloading is 640 MB.

Still sucks either way....they need to auto download this stuff in the background...

Do enough people own PS3 headsets and talk on it that it would be worth a purchase? I don't really play PS3 online much, but I guess it would be cool to have for Wipeout HD.

The headset sucks (I take back my previous positive remarks). It isn't meant for a human ear and the damn thing beeps when it's muted. It's as if the blinking red light on the headset, or the pop up icon on the PS3 wasn't enough to inform you, they also need to have a constant annoying beeping sound ringing in your ear. Maybe when they fix that and I read a manual on how to get it not to be a pain to wear I will go back to it, but for now I'm sticking with my Logitech bluetooth headset.

And is the final game of SOCOM as buggy as the beta?

I wouldnt know - I just tried to play it - never got to play and shelved it for six months till its fixed.

I logged on to see a "hey a buttfuck ton of you just bought this game all at once so everything is broken" message....

Then every 30 seconds a message would flash on the screen(5 times in a row) that there was an error connecting to some service and many of the community features arent available. IT said something about Home too.

I saw the server list and users logged...it was loaded....20 or so US east, 20 or so US WEST servers and then a mix of other stuff...each server had 200 to 250 users...many in the 240 range. Each regions have their own dedicated servers.

But you cant join a game...network errors any and every time you try to do anything.

So I decided to make my own game - would I finally be able to see the in-game engine running once on my TV...lemme see the GFX!

The answer is no. I tried to invite a friend to join my game and it locked up the PS3 and made me have to power-cycle it.

Hhahah so finally connected to a game and played....

WAS OK

GFX are nothing special at all but doable. Really what you might expect from a small lower quality online only download title.

It feels just like PS2 Socom.

Voicechat with the new PS3 mic is amazingly good.

The Socom players (in the 32 player game I played) were all doods actually trying to play and using the voicechat well for team work. No screaming kids, rapping teenbrats, etc...

The second round that started froze my PS3 soon after it loaded...

Why the fuck did I bother to try to play this again so soon?...it needs more bake time...

Also there is a connect/load process that happens right before the mision starts - its too long...

so i traded in cod4 and hell's highway today for this

i really just wanted the headset, but it's $50 by itself, so i figured an extra $10 for a game isn't so bad - don't care much for the warhawk headset's sound quality, so i'm gonna pass it along to a friend

installing takes forever and eats up 2 gigs, then i start the game and - 500mb patch

servers seem to work now, no lag in the one game i've played

however, if you've never played a socom game before (like me) you will not have a good time with this game - all the people i played with seemed to know exactly what they were doing, and i was only able to get about three steps before getting killed

plus, it's an ugly game

shoulda saved my $10 and just bought the $50 headset

I got this game today from Gamefly, still haven't even taken it out of it's sleeve.

I used to be really into SOCOM around the first and second, but then I lost interest. The beta didn't rekindle my interest.

From what I played of the beta, it felt like a crappier GRAW (and I wasn't much of a GRAW fan). I know SOCOM people will disagree and throw around all sorts of fanboy explanations for why that's not the case, but that's what it felt like. I'm glad Zipper has moved on to greener pastures, because Confrontation felt old.
