How is this not censorship?

Do you not consider the bleeping out of words on TV censorship because saying "fuck" is generally not part of someone's artistic expression of language?

Those words were never part of Media Molecules expression or idea. Media Molecules expression of a level generated by them with an African sounding song is still intact.

To me thats different than something like the threat of removal of hatian gangs in GTA Vice City. Or hot coffe from SA

How do you not know that? If they picked that song just because they thought it sounded cool, I can't see that not being an artistic decision.

We learnt yesterday that there is a lyric in one of the licensed tracks which some people may find offensive, and which slipped through the usual screening processes

basically they picked a cool sounding song and never cared to find out what it said. The lyrics were irrelevant to their expresion.

It would be understandable if average joe missed that kind of thing. but if you're developing a multimillion dollar game, that kind of detail seems important to do a quick check on. For all they knew, the words could be "lets all go eat poo" or something.

If im not mistaken media molecule is a small company and these stages arent even the main focus of the game. so something like this is quite understandable.

It's really stupid wasting all that money pressing new disks but it's MM's fault for being this extremely sensitive. A patch to just alter or remove the song would have probably allowed the game to still be sold in ME countries but I'm guessing that since this is such a big game for MM, they want to set a good PR example to other publishers.
