RED RING
« on: October 18, 2008, 12:47:06 PM »
So I turned on my launch 360 today and got the red ring, turn it off and now it works just fine.  It has done this once before a few years ago.   Anyways anything I can do to prevent it from really crapping out?

No, it's dying. Mine did the same thing last summer.

What a coincidence. Two days ago my 360 red ring'd as well.

I did the towel trick and it was fine, but I called for a coffin just in case. I'd say that's the best way right there, call and tell em yours red ringed and they'll express a coffin to you right quick.

Mines out of warranty.  I got it at launch.  So how much is it to fix it now?

My 360, bought in summer 2007 to replace my launch model RRoD system, has been acting up lately.  Freezes every once in a while (although this seems to be only when I play Halo 3 with originalz) and last night started stuttering while playing Soul Calibur IV.

So today I went and picked up an Arcade unit for 20,000 yen and will be selling off my Core system tomorrow.  Runs quieter and has HDMI to boot...I just hope it's not a lemon.

All warranties are extended 3 years in the case of a red ring.

edit: My unit was out of warranty back in May and they are still sending me a coffin.

My old launch 360 used to red ring temporarily from time to time, but it never fully red ringed. I ended up getting Error 74 last August.

That sucks dude.

I have to rev up my current 360 like a lawnmower by cycling the power a few times to get things warmed up.  Periodically I'll get a red ring during the procedure but I've always been able to get rid of it by cycling the power again.

Ridiculous build quality on these fuckers.

It's the three red rings and it won't even turn on now.

Also FUCKING MICROSOFT SUPPORT SERVICE.   1800-4my-xbox doesn't work now.  I've used that number before even though I'm Canadian.  Now it doesn't work. So I registering it online. Nope.  For some reason it won't accept the serial number on the xbox.  So i try using their email service.  Nope. "We're sorry but there was a problem processing your email support request.
For assistance with your repair order, please contact" the other two things i just tried.

FUCK YOU!

There is another number but it costs money to use.  Fuck them.

This is the first console that's ever broke on me.

Ok finally got them to send me a coffin instead of having to get the shipping label in the mail.

Also I keep asking if I get 3 more years of red ring warranty after they repair my xbox but they don't understand the question.  Does the warranty reset or am I fucked if this happens again?

you're fucked unless you buy the extended warranty from them after the repair. since you're at the tail end of the 3 years warranty once they repair the console it'll get a shitty 90 day warranty.
